1st year: Chizick's team wins

2nd year toss up

3rd & 4th years Spurrier's team wins.

Eh, Chizik did beat a Spurrier team twice in his second year at Auburn.

if it's all 5.7 3* players, then spurrier.

Cam Newton beat Carolina twice... and then Stephen Garcia beat Carolina the next year. But technically, Chiz did coach those teams.

I would go with this. In the end, superior talent wins most of the time. Coaching definitely matters but there is only so much of a talent gap that superior coaching can overcome. The difference between Spurrier and Chizik isn't big enough to make up that significant of a talent gap. See 2010 SC v. AU games for example.

Anyway, I agree with elposter. Superior talent wins out more times than not.

If Chizik can win with two 5 stars (if Fairley was even a 5 star when he was recruited), then I'm guessing he can win with a roster full of 5 stars. It would all fall apart after a couple of years though. Plus we know that Spurrier can't win it all with 3 stars after how many years now at USCe?

True, but it was his 1st year with the 5* talent that won him the games.

Actually, I think the 5* Chez teams would win 80% of the Time. That's just too much of a talent gap even after a few years of being coach by Chiz.

This coming from a fan of a team who's coach wanted to do away with the hurry up offense because it's "unfair" to the defense.

Has nothing to do with the thread topic.

Some of you frickers can figure out a ways to whine in every thread on this board. It's really kind of impressive and pathetic at the same time.

Please stay on topic.

You're not very good at this.
