False, both have won a few while we were down.
Neither is anywhere close to "supplanting", it would take decades for that to occur.

But while we're on the subject of "used to be a big deal", when's the last time aTm was even in the top 10? We've done it two years in a row. In two of the big 3 sports.
:balanced: Maybe we can knock it down to one year. How about finishing top 5 in two sports in the same year?

Right, that's how sports work. You WERE a 'big deal' and now you aren't. Nothing wrong with it, you just haven't won a national championship in track & field in 6 years.

...and thanks to Jeff Long, here's why:
Before retiring, John McDonnell, our well respected track coach for years, wanted Jeff Long to hire Dick Booth as his successor, his top recruiter and assistant for 27 years. Instead, Jeff Long hires Chris Bucknam from N. Iowa, who fires Booth after one year and Booth is hired at Florida. So our loss was your gain. Now he's at Alabama.

I have often wondered why Jeff Long ignored McDonnell's recommendation. It was a huge mistake IMO. Expect some championships from Alabama in the near future.

We also have cross country championships, and they were won by people who don't have vaginas.
We have some of these things called "Triple Crowns" as well. It's something LSU will never even sniff.
