I have no idea who is alter or not. In some threads you will see a post and just happen to get there right after a new post. And see it has 2 upvotes immediately. Those are likely their alts. Other than that I really don’t know who they are.
If someone is that desperate to post power to them. It would take a lot of effort. I post 100% on phone so everything is smaller and scrunched up compared to computer. Its hard to keep up with poster names other than some I happen to remember but most I don’t.

It is easier to remember folks when you can tie the avatar in with the user name.
Some folks upvote themselves immediately after they post.

On phone I don’t get the avatar block. If I turn my phone sideways then it shows up but it was an accident how I learned that. I post top/bottom so never see anything other than posts. And I like it that way. Software wise this site is easy to post on phone
