Gus obviously...isn't really close.

Mullen has a lot of leeway right now because of his energy and a very strong first year.

Smart losing to a very good ND game would be a bad start but unless it really falls apart he is fine.

Gus...he is on his last year of under performance. He wins 10 games min or the hot seat crowd will be insanely loud.

A split between these two.

It all depends on the season after the loss. Lose to Oregon or Miami and have a decent enough season... fine. Though Gus would find his seat getting hotter. Lose to Miami or Oregon and have a very mediocre season? Well Mullen will probably survive but take a major blow to his job safety.

Gus putting up a 6 win season with what he has coming back is probably the end of the road for him.

Which would be wonderful because Auburn would be firing a coach Arkansas forced them into breaking the bank on. It would be the biggest win for Arkansas football since we derailed Ole Miss in the 4/25 game.

How is this even a question when Gus is already on the hot seat?

Furthermore,
Losing to ND or Tx (two top 10 preseason teams) would not light a hot seat.

Same thing I was wondering. Mullen and Smart are no where near the hot seat...Gus is right there on it.

Baffling anyone would think otherwise.

Likely no one here would care, but if Barry Odom ( Mizzou ) loses the opener on the road to Craig Bohl and the Wyoming Cowboys, folks in Columbia Missouri wont be happy.

Honestly, I can see us dropping a few games, but the other scary game on the schedule to me is Oct 5. Troy was 10-3 last year, yes a new hc in Chip Lindsey, but they always seem talented.

O isn't going to let that fig Herman and the shorthorns beat him and this LSU team. It just isn't going to happen. I've never been more confident about LSU winning an early season, non-conference, road or neutral site game as I am with this one. LSU will win by 2 tds, and it could be worse. Coach O and the Tigers are gonna prove a point against Herman and Tejas in Austin on national TV that we are comin' and we ain't backin' down. Geaux Tigers.

A $6.8MM salary + a $26.6MM buyout says Gus will eek by with his average 3-4 loss season and be just fine.

I do not see it happening, but Tennessee losing to BYU would be glorious. The pitch forks and Gruden rumors would be in full force

My nephew’s girlfriend’s sister’s best friend knows the girl that cuts Chucky’s and his dog’s hair and she says that Gruden has his plane fueled up and is ready to head to K’ville as soon as he’s called. That’s all I can say for now, but I’ll divulge more after Chucky and his dog get their next grooming.

Considering that at least 60% (conservative estimate) of the Ole Miss fans hate Luke being the HC, if he lost to Memphis to start the season, I think they would have to ban all toilet paper sales in Mississippi to keep his yard from being rolled.

One of these, and since the Auburn fans are a bit on the fence about Gus already, I would pick him.

I agree. Mullen is still in the honeymoon stage.

It would be interesting if Gus starts 2-2. Would we see something similar to LSU 2016? LSU lost a close one to Wisconsin and then dropped the first SEC game at Auburn. Les Miles was fired the next day. What if Gus loses to Oregon and then against A&M?

I know a simple mind like yours likes to latch onto their obsession at any opportunity but try rereading the title. Even if Alabama some how lost to Duke there would be no hot seat.

I get it. You wrote that comment in hopes to point out that Alabama is playing Duke even though it had nothing to do with the topic. Just try a bit harder next time when attempting to troll. I can help you improve your baiting skills. Just let me know.

I was going to go with the classic "master-baiter" joke here, but it was too easy. There would have been guilt involved.
