I’m going to go with Michigan (for Texas).

Strong academics.

Huge alumni bases.

Long football history but with limited titles to show for it when going back 40-50 years.

Owns series record over bitter rival but could be considered a slightly lesser program overall than said rival.

Traditionalists (not going to candy up uniforms, colors - don’t mess with perfection, etc)

Travel well and the majority of them are hospitable and good to be around.

To me it’s definitely Michigan.

Vandy=Tulane.

I feel like most ppl would say duke but…
Academic powerhouse, used to be traditional football power, lopsided in state rivalry. Thought about GT and northwestern for vandy as well

I’ve always viewed Auburn, Clemson, and Purdue as similar. Large land grant state universities that don’t use the State name.

Fan experience is completely different Clemson fans couldn’t begin to comprehend barn pain. But yeah basically same school.

Excellent use of the quote feature.

Clemson was modeled after Mississippi State. It is actually in Thomas Clemson's will that Clemson be as close to State as possible.

Mississippi State's doppelganger is Kansas State.

Land grant/ag focused schools in the middle of nowhere

In-state rival wearing red and blue that shits on us

Historically terrible, but has had some successful years as of late. Kansas State has 517 all time wins and a .454 winning percentage. Mississippi State has 605 and .507.

Kansas State has been to 25 bowl games. Mississippi State has been to 26. 6 of KSU's have been current NY6 games, 7 of MSU's have been.

Kansas State has had more basketball success and Mississippi State has had more baseball success.

I feel like NC State is probably a good comparison for us.

For some reason, I've always felt LSU and Washington were similar.

Obvious- purple and gold colors.

Also- in a conference historically owned by a blueblood (SEC- Bama, Pac- USC), both schools have been quietly, surprisingly good over time, and have made runs over the years.

Clearly there's not much else, I know people compare UW and Tenn for the boats in tailgating.

Winsipedia makes this more objective:

Bama is Ohio State. Each has 972 wins. Each are in the middle of a golden era. Each with a coach who followed an all-timer.

Mizzou (720) is Iowa (701). Similar colors, each seems to pull off at least one win a year to make you think they turned a corner. Each made multiple conference championships in the last 20 years, coming up just short every time.

Oklahoma (949) is Tennessee (884) is Nebraska (922). Each is on the other side of a golden era. Each fanbase is massive and doesn’t accept that 9 wins should be their new standard for a good season. Refusing this reality causes them to turn on coaches too quickly which spirals them even further.

Georgia (888) is Penn St (938). Always competitive. Even the down years aren’t bad. Always physical. Both have glory years when they overlook deplorable behavior.

LSU (849) is USC (879). 3 letters, even when they aren’t good they are in the headlines for the drama. Both are most fun when they hire coaches who resemble the fanbase. Both weirdly linked to ND.

Auburn (802) is Clemson (805). Each hire overachieving shady youth pastors. Each with a Natty in the past generation and each define success by a Bama victory.

Texas (956) is ND (956). Each with fanbases who believe they are too good for their conference. Each with insane $.

A&M (785) is VT (778). Rabid fanbase, the giant #2 option in state. Good teams just missing one piece for decades on end.

Florida (764) is Oregon (714). Each can come out of nowhere when they have a QB. Each with a high floor. Each have the talent pool due to $ or location to dominate their coast.

Arkansas (745) is Wisconsin (747). Both thought Fat Burt was the answer. Both with above avg fan bases and dreams but neither can break through despite a great history of producing RBs.

Ole Miss (684) is Miami (664). Each would sell their soul for success. Neither seems to have had a buyer…until this year?!

Kentucky (655) is Arizona (636). Each basketball powers who have raised the floor of their football teams over the last 10 years.

South Carolina (641) is Oklahoma State (641). Both are clearly #2 in their state, but both can hang with anyone on any given year. Each flash but inevitably collapse by year’s end.

Vandy (624) is BYU (636). Both a little strange. Each at least started as religious schools. Each with deep pockets.

Mississippi State (596) is kansas State (576). Each an Ag school. Each with spotty success but are typically very physical.

Outside of LSU's National Title pops, I would say LSU and Wisconsin are pretty similar, up until Wisconsin's recent dropoff.

Consistently good and thick of conference races, but generally not the best of the best
Good college towns
Great stadiums and tailgating atmospheres
Fans love to booze

Probably UVA, UNC, or Indiana. Much better academics but similar in fanbase, relationship to other schools in state, and success.

Definitely Michigan for all the reasons listed. Both programs have won a lot of games but should have more titles and, even though we lead the series with oklahoma, they are the better program all time. The titles speak for themselves.
