can't include the damn martinez years, broskie. 'tisn't sporting, sir. even with the growing pains granthams first year with a 3-4 was 5 spots ahead of willie's unit.

as for where i think we go, i say same exact place we were last year. i think we are in the middle. not a great defense but not tennessee's either

Well we play Mike Leach first game so that doesn't help

We also play with our defense all season so that doesn't help either

I do think we'll improve from last year, end up 7th or 8th

Can we get this exemption too?

MSU:
2012 - 8th
2011 - 4th
2010 - 3rd

I'd expect us to be styled after our 2010 defense with sack and TFL totals, but probably slightly worse overall. I'll go with #6 in the SEC next year...with the opportunity to be much better than that if things gell right -- and much worse if they don't...

while i think it's only fair he was just your DC. you and OU should both have known better but we wil at least forgive passing stats. Tennessee, well, fool georgia once, shame on willie. fool UGA into promoting you to DC, shame on us. OU and AU thinking they could make him work, double shame on you. Hire him again with John Jancek and you should just give up on any hopes you have for your defense or tackling.

Well, we only hired Willie to make BVG happy

Tennessee has no excuses with that hire

UGA, aTm, and Alabama are the only teams on LSUs schedule that I view as consistently giving the LSU defense a run for it's money.

Ole Miss, Arky, and UF will move the ball at times and may score a bit.

Not worried about the rest.

17.5ppg sounds like a good average. I'm going to go ahead and say that our final scoring D at the end of the 2013 season is within 2 points of 17.5ppg. (75% chance it is over and 25% chance it is under).

Predicting what the Auburn D will be ranked won't be worth the effort for at least another year and will only result in tears.

And I don't think anyone is going to be scared of what we offer at QB. Wallace had flashes, but I have this bad feeling that Gus is going to go with Frazier ( ) because he knows the offense.

I don't see us dropping. The LB, Safety, and DE positions are lights out, and Belue/Fulton/Smith is a good CB duo. I see less than 10 a game, depends if the trash time players play as bad as the garbage time guys last year played.

So that explains bama's offensive success in the SEC regular season, 2 of the top seven.

No, we had a couple left after the draft. They have been recently indefinetly suspended.

Waiting for the true freshmen to arrive for august. A bunch will have to go both ways though.

Any idea why fulton and smith didn't play any defensive snaps VS LSU last year?

I think the better question is why did Vinnie and Perfy with how they were playing?

exactly.

I feel good about a few spots on our D this year, LB being the most stout.

but I really don't know about Sunseri. He hasn't excelled in pass coverage. Hopefully the scheme will allow him to roam in the box where he can be more effective.

I think Sunseri playing robber is where he is most effective.
