The employees who would be Bama fans because of living in Birmingham would be low level employees such as receptionists and custodians, and such. The people who actually run the SEC, the execs are from all of the schools as are the reps of the schools and simply working in Birmingham does not make them Bama fans.

Which is why I say it doesn’t hold much water. There is no massive conspiracy. It’s just a coincidence that Bama is close. I was only saying that the perception is that they’re all bama fans, and if they felt compelled to eliminate that perception (which is completely unnecessary) they could just move it to NC because the location does not matter.

LSU will find something else to complain about, let's face it, we all have fans who like to complain, but LSU seems to have more than their fair share.

It’s because most of us still feel like we got fvcked at a cosmic level. We had a taste of what it was like to be the top dog for a decade and then it all quickly came crashing down, most people like to have tangible reasons other than “shite happens.”

quote:

the officials are not biased, just men who make mistakes

Like I said, Bama gets the benefit of the doubt more often than not because they’re the top dog, not because of a conspiracy. You see it in all sports at every level. It’s just the nature of human beings officiating.

Denver, CO...no employees from any SEC state.

Only hire refs from CA and MT West.

Although there is an argument that by and large people who work at the offices are going to be Bama fans if they live in Bham so there’s a sort of generic Bama bias that permeates the building, but I don’t think that holds much water.

You’ve may never have lived in Alabama. But I have. You can’t go anywhere in that state without running into a toothless fan in houndstooth. And Birmingham is just too small a city, with too many Alabama fans...who have nothing but Alabama football on the brain.

If you live in Atlanta, UGA may have a lot of alums...but you’ll also find plenty of folks from all over the SEC and world who live and work there. The economy, the range things people can concern themselves is so much larger in Atlanta. And the same with Nashville. Plenty of other things to do, plenty of folks from all over means that your church congregation, your sixth grade teachers, your judges and tax attorneys and police officers have allegiances to a range of teams—if they care about college football at all!

But in Birmingham, you can’t escape Alabama football.

How quickly we forget? Location has zero to do with operation. Put SEC HQ where ever it makes most sense for all. It's the commish who makes a difference. And at one point UT basically ran the league and it wasn't long ago. Almost every ref was from Tennessee. Roy Kramer was a UT man and fan and he was out of control as commissioner. His tenure is why the leader of the SEC will always be an outsider professional from now on.
