Thought you were comparing 09 Bama to 19 LSU. How silly that would’ve been

As far as I know off the top of my head, Alabama doesn't have a season in the conversation.
Unless you use the stats many people are using to make the claim that 19 LSU > 95 Nebraska, then it and a bunch of other teams are suddenly in the conversation.
I rank 2019 LSU is pretty high, but 95 Nebraska is still the GOAT.

It’s hard to compare different teams by margin of victory when they don’t play the same level of competition. Nebraska did not play the same level of competition, Why is that hard to understand? They may well be the best, but it isn’t a slam dunk. Margin of victory is only one factor, not the whole story. Did Nebraska face quarterbacks who were at the level of Tua, Hurts, or Lawrence, or even Fromm, other than maybe, Wuerful.
Just another interesting point of comparison, LSU had 14 players drafted from the 2019 team this year, 6 in the first round. 1995 Nebraska had 6 drafted total, and only 1 in the first round the others were in rounds 3-6.
If you look at the NFL draft in 1996 (the 1995 season) compared to 2020, LSU faced many more NFL drafted players throughout the season. The best team Nebraska faced was Florida, which had 6 NFL draftees in 1996, and no first rounders. Next best was Colorado with 5 and no 1st rounders. Kanas had 4 draftees, and K. State had 1.
LSU, one the other hand faced Alabama, with 9 draftees, including 4 first rounders, Auburn with 6 draftees, Georgia with 6, OU with 4 and Clemson with 7. Those numbers don’t include next year’s draft which will be loaded with players whom LSU faced this year, like the consensus number one QB.

While LSU had a tougher SoS, it's straight wrong to say they never faced the same level of competition. There were plenty of comparable teams and it wasn't even close in terms of MoV.
I think Nebraska ended up having like 25+ players from that team in the NFL in 1 way or another. I don't remember the exact number, using the NFL to try and justify college talent is just dumb really. Tons of great college players who don't equate to the next level. It's a team sport.
LSU lacked the defense.

I understand the need to start threads in the off-season like this. After another disappointing season for these schools, there is the need to dismiss the accomplishments of hated teams... There’s nothing more subjective than comparing different teams from different eras. The 85 Bears weren’t on LSU’s schedule so they didn’t have to beat them

Are you really saying this wasn’t a dominate season? There is no way to know what teams would win from different seasons. Does the 3-0 win against LSU in 1979 take away from that Bama team? How about being in a dog fight with a Les Miles team in the 4th quarter in 2009. Then beating Texas without McCoy make it les dominate? Look at the draftees from all the teams LSU beat this past season. How can this not be considered a dominate team?

In terms of who won the game? Not even a tiny amount.
In terms of trying to claim it's the greatest season of all time, HUGE amounts.

Same answer, part of the reason 2009 Alabama was never considered the greatest ever.

Because it's irrelevant. It's a team sport. 2010 Alabama had way more talented players than 2009, but lost 3 times.
Every team after 2009 Alabama has been more talented than 2009 in fact. And yet 0 undefeated seasons since then.
Team sport.

We just need to let LSU have this. They don’t have much to be proud of in their history as a program. Let’s just say they had the “best” season. Even though going undefeated - even 15-0 - isn’t groundbreaking at all, let’s just let them believe it
You guys had the Best season! Wow! Look at you! Good job!

I’m not saying you’re wrong but you are the only person on this board chirping about 09 Bama
It’s all right here for them to see
I don’t see any multiple areticle sources saying 09 Alabama Was the best ever but there is a groundswell if support for LSU.

I linked 7 such articles on this board once all from one page of a Google search. First it was "prove it" that articles were being written. Now the response is that the authors are writing click bait.

How many sports writers are out there?

Again, it was just from the first page of a Google search. Plus, it shouldn’t matter since you say only LSU fans are the one saying it.
As usual, you are getting curb stomped in this discussion. It's hysterical.

And when you can make a case for 2019 LSU that doesn't also put 2009 Alabama ahead of 95 Nebraska using the same criteria, I'll entertain the idea you might be right.
