A&M was not a big school until about the early 80's.
A&M has had in excess of 20k students since the mid 70s according to your school website. LINK
Do you realize how big that was for the time? In 1970, Alabama for instance, had just over 13k students. LINK Most SEC schools still don't have 30k students now, and A&M has since the early 80s. So yeah, you've had all of those advantages for at least 40-50 years. That's plenty enough time to have turned the corner don't you think?
The facilities boom is a fairly new concept as well.
And you want to talk about being an all boys college before integration. Not that persuasive.

This is not true at all.

But the team always does this after the annual loss to Bama. It’s the game that usually starts the late season swan dive.

Their stadium is nicer and their former student athletes are able to find employment outside of their respective pro leagues.

I mean frick you would think this roster has gotten LSU to a relevant bowl game. As if the sugar bowl isn’t something for this program to strive for given the last five years
the biggest problem would be if A&M is hungrier than LSU. The're pushing for what, 8-4 in Jimbo's first year? LSU would be going for 10-2 and a solid Top 10 ranking going into the post-season. That SHOULD be enough, but it seems like we might be carrying on the post-championship hangover a bit too long. That is fine for Bama if they screw up, to have a let-down. But LSU is about a decade removed from true contention, so we really don't get the right to pout about not winning the SEC. Especially after the upset to Troy and blowing the Notre Dame game last season.

Here you go Bandit, per the S&P+ Databases
Matchups
Advantage Texas A&M
- LSU Offense S&P+ #83 vs Texas A&M Defense S&P+ #35
- LSU Rushing S&P+ #104 vs Texas A&M Rushing Defense S&P+ #7
- LSU Standard Down Offense Success Rate #102 vs Texas A&M Standard Down Defense Success Rate #15
- LSU Sacks Allowed Rate #87 vs Texas A&M Sack Rate #23
- LSU Offense 3rd & Long Success Rate #121 vs Texas A&M 3rd and Long Success Rate #4
- LSU Offense 3rd & Medium Success Rate #114 vs Texas A&M 3rd and Medium Success Rate #12
Advantage LSU
- Texas A&M Offense S&P+ #30 vs LSU Defense S&P+ #8
- Texas A&M Passing S&P+ #33 vs LSU Pass Defense S&P+ #2
- Texas A&M Special Teams S&P+ #25 vs LSU Special Teams S&P+ #3
S&P+ has A&M expected to win by +1.2 pts at a 53% win probability
The biggest mismatch of the game, like with most games, is LSU's offense vs A&M's defense, because LSU's offense is a disaster. LSU's defense is better than A&M's offense, but A&M's run vs LSU's run defense is pretty even.
So, I'd guess A&M tries to run alot, play field position and get LSU in 3rd and 5+.

I'm not, but Alabama was a very successful football program without the need for a huge student body. Regardless, back in the 70s, there were only 10 SEC schools. I'd venture to say Ole Miss, State, Vandy, and Auburn were comparable in size if not smaller. Tennessee and Florida were probably bigger. LSU was probably slightly bigger. The point is, a school larger than 20k students in the 70s was a large school.
