And finally... when OU loses... there are always Texas fans on I-35... by the road or on the overpasses north of Dallas rubbing it in as Oklahoma fans drive home. That is another thing that doesn't happen to Texas fans when they drive back to Austin.

Piggybacking off this…if you wanted to attend one of these in the future, how would you suggest going about it as a neutral? I know that is vague but just curious. Always wanted to go one year.
There isn’t going to be neutral. You can wear whatever you want but the side you set on will be the school your around . It’s either crimson or burnt orange colors . People probably will look at you wierd for wearing any colors other than that imo.

You can wear white, even though it's after Labor Day.

I have attended 15 games since 2000, but the last was 2019. I'm cheap, so I'd stay where ever I could find a good deal for a good hotel. I've stayed all over Dallas. The galleria, downtown, near Love Field, Rockwall (this drive wasn't bad as it seems most don't stay out this way), Park Central and a few others..
If you plan on drinking until your face falls off, I'd recommend staying close to a DART station.
As for traditions, I liked to get to the fair at least 3 hours before kickoff. This was challenging when the game was at 11:00 am. Corndog and Beer when I arrive followed by as many beers as I can drink before I go into the stadium about 30 min before kickoff.
No carnival games before the game. If you win, you have to carry that stupid stuffed animal around. No carnival games after a loss because the OU fans are insufferable. Lots of carnival games after a win because I'm too drunk to realize that I'm throwing money away for a stuffed animal that cost about $3.
Avoid the spinning rides no matter what.
The Ferris Wheel takes way too fricking long.
The car exhibits are great, especially if it is hot outside.

Haha, SMU hates this game. That’s where all the “invasion” language comes from.
When I lived in Dallas post-grad (and worked in a bldg on the video’s referenced Akard St) I got a weekend hotel room in University Park near SMU (it was the Lumen Hotel then) and took DART light rail from Mockingbird Station.
After the RRS we went back to SMU for tailgating, the SMU night game, and SMU bars post-game.
The tail was incredible. It was the look, don’t touch, classy version rarely seen in the SEC. At least at the frat bars near campus they’d let you dance with them if you found someone in your same strike zone.

The smart people stay the hell out of Dallas and bus to the game.

I always stay at the Beeman (Marriott property) on the edge of Highland Park when I’m in Dallas. Decent hotel and usually a good value considering the neighborhood.

My favorite Fair activity were these booths over by the livestock building each with a live animal inside that would do something for 75 cents.
There was a guitar-playing rabbit but the one I used to spend my quarters on was the Tic Tac Toe-playing chicken.
You don't actually see what the bird is doing as the pecks are shielded from view but it does peck at the appropriate time after you make your play.
I also enjoyed the pig races and for food I always looked for Helmut's Apple Streussel.
