Mateer looked really bad in that game. I was pretty surprised by how much he seemingly regressed. Missed a bunch of open throws and made some horrible decisions.
They're in trouble if he can't do better than that.

it is funny the timeline of fans. Sat and Sunday everyone wanted BV gone and Mateer sucks
Then yesterday most of the X posts about OU were saying it was just one bad game and its a long season and Mateer and the team will be back to normal at UGA. Most people sticking with 10-2.
They will still be in the playoff hunt. They will split Texas and UGA and then have room for one more loss and still get in no problem.

here …. Mateer didn’t give OU a chance but let’s not forget we beat LSU the last time we played . It’s one game .. happens every year to teams losing on the road by 7 to a big ten team who has a 111k stadium that day .We can’t all schedule Clemson as a marque ooc game of the year and then only up by 7 at half to Louisiana directional school of the blind . You got your own issues with Levitt who can’t pass to save his life ..3 ints ? I know your pumped but pump the breaks till you play anyone inside top 50. You don’t have anything close to the schedule OU faces to start the season.

Mateer is a 5th year QB who is what he is. He puts up video games stats against FCS and G5 schools and sucks against the P4.
In Mateer's 13 starts against the P4:
2,832 passing yards at 6.7 per attempt and a 58.3% completion percentage. 13 passing TDs against 13 interceptions. 696 rushing yards at 3.5 per attempt and 10 rushing TDs
Brent Venables is in his 5th year as head coach at OU and is 21-19 against P4 opponents. Will be .500 if he loses to UGA and Texas in the next few weeks. Good thing OU extended him.

Damn that’s bad. And what if he lost to Auburn last year in a game Auburn clearly deserved to win with the illegal TD and overturned obvious strip and score
Also LSU with six starters sitting out in a third string quarterback was throwing in the end zone the last game of the year to win
