I think we’re vying for the playoff next year.
LSU 2023 - guy who finishes at worst second for the Heisman + same shitty defense = Playoffs baby!
Me trying to process this equation:

Everyone on this board had me convinced that LSU would repeat as Western Champs this season

Why would it be the same defense?

You're right, it could somehow be worse.
It's clear your coach doesn't care about that side of the ball at all.

We’ll obviously lose a lot of explosiveness and elusiveness at QB but people acting like this offense is about to fall back to iowa levels are being ridiculous
I’m not hear to argue and it was a genuine question, I personally don’t think LSU tanks next year without him.
I understand why people feel that way though, the board is flooded with JD for Heisman posts showing mind blowing stats, it’s only natural people view these and think “Damn they would’ve been screwed without him”. Can’t talk about how he was a one man army accounting for the bulk of your offensive production and a once in a generation QB in one thread and then say he’s easily replaceable the next.

With no defense still and no Jaylene to bail you out. Sure thing....
Are you unaware that every season is different? Did LSU beat Alabama this year? People that use one season as a measuring stick to gauge how another one will go are handicapped in the head.

LSU's defensive ranking in 2022 - 34th
LSU's defensive ranking in 2023 - 82nd
Hmm... the numbers indicate that your defense gets worse every year Kelly is there. You're right. The defense should be even worse than it was this year.

Like I said, pretty clear he makes no effort on that side of things. Defensive recruits will take notice and play elsewhere.
Big Game Brian is gonna learn how hard the SEC is when you don't bother to put an actual defense out there

Does this also mean the offense will be even better next year?

So, from 2003 to 2007 to 2019 is a 50 year cycle?

I would say yes but the guy who generated 75% of LSU's offensive yardage this year is leaving, so...

Except for the fact that he did last year and shut your star NFL bust QB down. The defense was inexcusably bad this season, but many people have forgotten the fact that all 4 of our best CBs are either injured or off the team, both of our DTs were hurt this year, and our defensive leader and team captain was diagnosed with freaking brain cancer. I don't think any defense in the country would have played well under those circumstances, even though they probably still wouldn't be as bad as us. I fully expect our defense to be better next season.

As soon as they get rid of their Pete Golding clone.

When will, and when has, 7&5 been contender for anything, except the butt of an infinite number of jokes?

It's only the trend that matters, according to you.

The Tiger Rant’s current plan to build an SEC caliber DL involves hiring our DL coach then taking our entire current DL in the portal and flipping every DL commit. Seems feasible
