Under what system in the past would a team in the Championship game have lost to an 8-4 team and gone to 4 OTs against a 6-6 team? I could have accepted it if the SECC was an automatic berth, but to have the beauty contest still the standard after what we saw was a joke.

Why do you think I am bitter, I am just stating the facts that could easily be solved. You assume it is bitterness because it relates to Bama as much as any team, but the truth is it is problem that only CF experiences. Sad really, but not bitter.

All fans are fickle, but the AU fans take it to another level. This is dead on. Do not let them fool you, CFB is very important on the plains as it is at every D1 school.

Bama will not be able to replace Saban adequately (of course they will make a good hire but Saban is a living legend). In the future, I am more concerned that Clemson/UGA and potentially Florida/FSU will be in good positions - rather than just Bama continuing its dominance (with Clemson and UGA potentially as spoilers). So hopefully, Bama will either hire Dabo or Kirby which should weaken the competition.
Auburn’s job is to be in position (much easier for UGA and Clemson) and get some homework done (new $100m Football only facility opening soon and we need to work on NIL, maybe even some JHS upgrades). Meanwhile, Harsin needs to produce some promising results (win some games and land some higher rated recruits). He needs to establish a competitive system NOW - otherwise we better move on and hire someone like Kiffin or Stoops maybe…

Either AU gives Harsin time to do it his way and there is tangible on field progress (which after the off season shenanigans and his recruiting so far I doubt will happen) or Harsin will be ran out of town and only an absolute crazy son of a bitch will take the HC job.
To be honest, a crazy, arrogant up and coming coach might be the only way, and our shitty NIL situation might not even allow that guy to have success.

This is a fair criticism, but to be honest I’ve been slowly losing interest for years.
I think this is a natural, getting older, situation. Well, for me it is anyway. The state of world affairs has really destroyed my excitement for a luxury stress. Honestly, it made me "hate" rivals less b/c their people are my people. In the end, we would be fighting next to each other.
Granted, when football season starts I always find a way to dig right back in.

We are the Rich Strike of this year’s SEC.

Same here. I don't get the lows (or highs) I used to with Auburn football. It doesn't ruin my day/weekend like it used to when we lose.

quote:The Auburn fan has to cope. When viewing Auburn's program and administration historically, how else are they supposed to handle reality?
So you're not only banking on Auburn making a "home run hire" (because they're totally known for that ), but also Bama NOT hiring a decent enough coach that can win with the stockpile of talent Saban will inevitably leave behind or build on one of the most solid foundations of any program in the country.
Yeah, sounds like a reasonable expectation.
Historically they are an 8 win/yr football program, nothing more nothing less. Their administration has been one screw up after another for decades as evidenced by them very recently (Feb '22) exposing their asses yet again for all to see. That dysfunctional shite has to be tiring for any fanbase.

Most AU fans can separate the problems with AU football and the problems with CF. The Bama fans only want to hear one.

No, they show up every now and then.

do they? If so then why do they abide with a BOT that undermines their own program?

And college football has changed dramatically since the 1980s and even from 10-15 years ago. Pat Dye came in at the end of Bear Bryant era and really did not have to compete with anyone in the 80s in the SEC. Now the SEC is about to expand with TX and OU which will knock AU down in the pecking order combined with NIL - I think AU's days of an SECC run every 3-4 years are over. Now it will be closer once a decade or more.

What choice do we have? I don't have the $ to supplant any of those guys?

What has Texas done the last 15 years to suggest anything will change? The lost to Kansas last year.
