We beat Spurrier
Spurrier almost rallied the Gators from a 20-0 deficit, but Florida fell just short, 20-18

2009 vs Cincinnati. Kelly just bailed for ND and Tebow and that offense went HAM.

quote:Sugar is still a major industry in Louisiana, producing 20% of the sugar grown in the U.S.
Why is it called the sugar bowl? We don't import sugar in that port anymore

I got my hind handed to me for bringing something similar up on the More Sports Board in the Baylor/Ole Miss thread.
There’s always Rose, Cotton, Peach, Orange references around with where they are located but there’s never any Sugar references these days. I think Florida is a bigger sugar state than Louisiana these days.

Fiesta Bowl is the only NY6 bowl we haven’t won. Won the title in Glendale, just not the bowl game. Won the Rose last season, just not in Pasadena which was a bummer.
Fiesta will be a semifinal spot next year.

The superdome sits on an old sugar plantation.
New Orleans airport is called msy for moissant stock yards. The former tenant. Learning about history can help the younguns on here.

That's interesting but the Sugar Bowl game was played at Tulane Stadium for over 40 years before the Superdome was built
