I'd like to see them join, just to see FL and USC pissed.

For what it's worth, SC fans didn't want Texas. We've had some dragouts in baseball over the years, and have seen their antics ruin a handful of conferences already.

The GOR looks unbeatable, but can you really defeat 6 state universities in their own state courts with judges that are alumni of those universities?

This.

If the state Universities want out then they will find a way out.

When SC left the ACC, they left because of the NC basketball schools running the show, primarily UNC. Clemson and SC were supposed to leave at the same time, but at the last min, Clemson got cold feet and stayed in the ACC. I personally have no doubt that if Clemson had left too, Arky wouldn't have gotten an invite in '92. It would have been the two SC schools as a package to join the SEC at the first expansion.

Clemson made a decision in 1971 that has dominoed until today...

You're wrong though because Arkansas was invited before anyone else. Y'all were only invited after FSU chickened out.

Aug 1 1990: Arkansas invited
Sep 16 1990: FSU joins the ACC over the SEC
Sept 25 1990: SCar invited

Aggie wants the SEC to add ULL. LOL.

I only want the SEC to expand IF each current school ends up getting more $$$ than we were projected to get without the new school. I approve of adding Oklahoma and Texass because they will make all of us richer.

ESPN was instrumental in shepherding Texas/OU to the SEC. Moving us from a conference half-controlled by FOX was in ESPN's best interest because it gave them more inventory and prevents us from ever moving west.

ACC is already fully controlled by ESPN. They signed a 20-year (!) rights deal in 2016. What incentive does ESPN have to effectively kill the ACC by letting FSU/Clemson go to the SEC? Unless B1G/FOX start snooping around Tallahassee but I'm not convinced B1G does that anytime soon.

The same person who negotiated the ACC tv deal is the same person who signed the Nike deal for Bama.
Not so good.

Bill Battle cost Bama millions.

If the ACC starts shopping, they’d rather just poach the biggest values

The Big Ten always claims to want academic teams so I figured they'd rather have North Carolina and Virginia out of the ACC.

The only “academic” schools in the B10 are currently Northwestern, Michigan, and Wisco.

Vandy, UF, and UGA are better than every school in the B10 but Northwestern (tied with Vandy) and UMich.

John Swofford negotiated the ACC TV deal.

Wasn't his son a big wig at Raycom Sports at the time? That may be the only hope for getting out of the GOR.

FSU and Clemson are in a world of trouble, and they know it. Their only hope is to get 4 or so other schools to walk and for all of them to fight the GOR in court.

Unless the B1G and SEC start paying their athletes a percent of their TV deals, Clemson and FSU will be fine.

They’ll just have less overpaid administrators, less lavish expenses on non-revenue sports, and may miss out of a coach or two. As long as they are winning games though, they’ll continue to have fans.

Thank you for clarifying that. Frank Broyles did good work to get us here.

We brought in solid basketball and track and our baseball was on the way up. Football was going through coaching changes but made the championship game 3 times. We may not have dominated any sport but made other teams stronger having to get better at all sports like we did in the swc.

Not a brag, but just a fact of what Frank did for us and our conference.

Some of our so called fans hate him but his contributions are severely underrated.

He certainly saw the writing on the wall concerning the SWC.

I don't know about that. Clemson is small for a public school with a big time football program and FSU has even more issues with NIL than we do.

Big12 is an embarrassment by adding those four.

They should have combined with the pac.

But now byu is going to have an amazing season in five years and they will get slashed in the playoff.

Would not mind keeping Oklahoma and booting Texas and Missouri and then adding UNC, Clemson and FSU and then lock the doors.

UCF won't be making more than FSU.

The FSU AD pulled slight of hand and didn't count the ACCN payout. He was intentionally trying to ruffle feathers.

The ACC will be making more than the Big 12

NIL is not related to a school’s TV deal.

Maybe money from the TV deal can go to facility upgrades that help recruiting, although historically that rarely happens.

Even if say Missouri gets lavish facilities from the TV deal, are players going to choose going 6-6 at Mizzou in the SEC over going 10-2 at Clemson?

These programs aren’t going anywhere because they will still be winning in the ACC which means they’ll still have lots of fans. There’s still a benefit to being a big fish in a small pond.

Then by following that logic, you shouldn't feel bad for Clemson. They had the same opportunity to leave the ACC when USC did. They stayed. We left, and wandered the wilderness for 20 years.

Now we're in the SEC with multiple natties in multiple sports. Clemson can go frick themselves, and wither and die in the ACC. They don't get a pass, or a lifeboat.
