…in the ACC?

Lol.

The ACC signed the worst television deal of all time and it doesn’t end until 2036.

FSU and Clemson are in a world of trouble, and they know it.

Their only hope is to get 4 or so other schools to walk and for all of them to fight the GOR in court. The GOR looks unbeatable, but can you really defeat 6 state universities in their own state courts with judges that are alumni of those universities?

Texas courts allowed Texas Tech to crap on a valid contract. Could the same happen here?

Does the Big Ten or the SEC even want either? The Big Ten always claims to want academic teams so I figured they'd rather have North Carolina and Virginia out of the ACC. This is the same conference that took in Rutgers and Maryland after all. And what does either really add to the SEC? I can see FSU over Clemson but other than the two schools feeling like SEC schools, I'm not sure they add value.

I feel bad for Clemson, but FSU made their bed when they chose the ACC over the SEC.

Then by following that logic, you shouldn't feel bad for Clemson. They had the same opportunity to leave the ACC when USC did. They stayed. We left, and wandered the wilderness for 20 years.

Now we're in the SEC with multiple natties in multiple sports. Clemson can go frick themselves, and wither and die in the ACC. They don't get a pass, or a lifeboat.

Not even close to the same. Clemson was never invited to the SEC.

Because they never had the stones to leave their abusive conference.

Don't reward cowardice.

As long as ESPN is broadcasting ACC games they won't have a need to break up the ACC to get the big guns in the SEC. Look for the SEC and ACC to partner up with non conference games much like they're doing with basketball next season.

You do realize Arkansas wasn't independent, right?

The Leach case was a matter of Leach suing for damages for breach of contract. Rather different deal. The beauty of the grant of rights is that it is enforceable through injunctive relief, so you get around most of the sovereign immunity problems. I don't think litigation is the way to go for FSU and Clemson.

I am not one of them, but there are some Fourteenth Amendment experts that would strongly disagree with this statement.

You really should know a little bit more about college football history before posting.

First off, the SEC never made an offer to Clemson.

Second, USCe left the ACC in 1971, so your comment makes no sense.

Reading is fundamental. Usc and Clemson both were in the ACC at the same time. Both schools were fed up with the Tobacco Road schools, and decided to leave the ACC at the same time - 1971. At the 11th hour, Clemson backed out, and let USC leave on their own.

Ergo, they had the same opportunity to leave the ACC when USC did. My original post had nothing to do with Clemson being offered, and had everything to do with the fact that they didn't leave the ACC when they had the chance. Now, they can wither and die.

By the time the 2036 contract would be up, Vanderbilt would have received close to 700 million more dollars in revenue over a decade from TV money

When SC left the ACC, they left because of the NC basketball schools running the show, primarily UNC. Clemson and SC were supposed to leave at the same time, but at the last min, Clemson got cold feet and stayed in the ACC. I personally have no doubt that if Clemson had left too, Arky wouldn't have gotten an invite in '92. It would have been the two SC schools as a package to join the SEC at the first expansion.

Clemson made a decision in 1971 that has dominoed until today...

Why is everyone somehow continually surprised that a tv deal signed 7 years ago makes less money per school than one signed now?

They, their fans, either don't get it or they are in a state of denial.

FSU and Clemson are in desperate waters right now. They're looking for someone to toss them a life jacket but their past history has made them expendable among the conferences.

FSU and Clemson have both made enemies over the decades, with their really nasty dirty recruiting tactics behind the scenes.

They'll never be invited to join the SEC and they know it.

They probably would be invited to join the SEC, along with UNC and another school.

It's time to jump ship, which is too bad because the ACC was a fine conference for many years. Just not making enough on the TV deal now.

I'd like to see them join, just to see FL and USC pissed.

Then I'd like to see Ga Tech join. And then Louisville. and Miami. And maybe ULaLa
