You’ld really want 3 same-state schools in the SEC?

BEST FITS:

FSU
Clemson
Oklahoma St
West Virginia

Remember, I said "fit", as in culture. UNC would be a great add but you got that whole encroaching east coast liberalism out there. For that reason, Virginia schools are out. They would all want Big Ten anyway.

Not a matter of whether it will happen anymore because it will happen again, eventually.

The usual suspects include:

Clemson
FSU
NC State
UNC
UVA
VaTech

Anyone being overlooked? Do Tulane or GaTech ever make it back?

It is who I think gets the call. I don't want us to expand, and I want us to keep the East and West.

But Fla and MIA would be bedlam, imo. It could be fun.

Lastly, I can't think of any two other teams that have the potential to step up to the challenge, other than some B1G teams.

I think WV is a culture fit for the SEC.

I like the idea of VT & start a rivalry between them & TA&M.

Ga., SC, & Alabama would all be fighting Florida for athletes in their surrounding states.

Yea, but that is when they joined the SEC.. to get away from all those “losers”..

They joined in 1992, not 1990.

In that time ...

ACC has:
8 basketball championships
4 football championships
3 baseball championships

SEC has:
6 basketball championships
17 football championships
14 baseball championships

So I think they made the right call. 37 titles to 15

Miami is lucky to draw 20,000 fans to its games

I agree with this statement but that’s in the acc. However most times they play Clemson, fsu nd or vt they sell it out. The entire sec save for vandy is at least on par with vt. I don’t think it’s a big deal. Now might be a great reason for the big ten not to add Miami(they don’t have the same brand power as sec)

Clemson and UNC make the most sense to me

This was actually what was pitched by Kramer when he suggested the first expansion

Pass on WVU. Worst academic institution in the P5. And geographically speaking, Morgantown is basically Pittsburgh proper.

That's almost 40 years ago. In the last 20 years South Carolina and Vanderbilt have more titles in those sports than Clemson, Miami, and Florida State.

The hell you smoking, Clemson and fsu have 4 combined football natties since the bcs. That alone is worth more than vandy and usce sports existence

Works out pretty good imo.. assuming we could play a 10 game schedule..

And before anyone gets bent out of shape, this is just one example of the pods and permanent opponents.. focus on the idea of it, not the actual teams listed..

Maybe so, but they kicked the door in when they joined the Big 12. Their presence was known for sure. Only in the SEC do schools have the same rabid passion for their teams.

I never said they didn't.. I was just saying the teams we were discussing weren't exactly losers.. and I was also just trying to poke the bear with Missouri & Texas A&M.

They 100% made the right call.

Nice work Big Bro, but I'm gonna have to guess you came into a trust fund or inheritance or something. More power to you.

I hope never, but it'll be some combination of North Carolina and Virginia schools if it happens. UNC would be our top target.

Let’s add rugby, soccer, and Canadian football.

And handball, water polo, and fencing.

We need Serbia and Macedonia as well.
