We’re already starting to see Saban lose his edge; Kiffin and an average Ole Miss team made that glaringly obvious. How do fans feel about being stuck with Saban when he has fully lost his edge and is no longer anywhere close to as sharp as he once was?

Saban is only 68. Joe Paterno didn’t retire until he was 85; Saban still has many years left in him.

And I’m glad, too. As mentioned, he’s already losing his edge; Lane Kiffin exposed him and will probably beat him next year. Once Kiffin starts beating Saban, Alabama fans will be begging for him to retire so they can replace him with Kiffin.

There will definitely be an inflection point towards the end of Saban’s career (similar with Joe Pa) where fans want him gone but are stuck with him as his career drags out at the finish because based on what he’s accomplished, he gets to retire on his terms. And once Lane starts to beat him, it sure as frick won’t make him want to retire any time soon. It’s going to be hilarious to watch and will be the sweet sweet justice that Kiffin wants (for fans to be clamoring to have him replace Saban) and is exactly the reason he came to Ole Miss.

Ole Miss beat Alabama twice in the last 10 years, and Alabama still won NCs....

Yeah, Coach Saban lost his edge. Same thing happened to Coach Bryant in 1970-71......

Saban lost his edge at the end of 2013. End of 2014. Start of 2015. End of 2018. End of 2019. How many times will this happen, OP?

I didn’t say he had completely lost it, I said it was clear that he has lost a step or two and he’s not the same Saban he once was. If you can’t see that then you’re not objectively comparing this Bama team to teams in years past.

My my, why so sensitive? Perhaps because there’s a sliver of truth to it?

I'm not sure if you're serious, Ole Miss did very well against Bama. A win is a win and you guys lost, nobody will remembers we almost beat them chit.

We have no idea what we are in the midst of. The end? Maybe. The beginning of an offensive juggernaut? Possibly. The roster is being assembled in a completely different manner. Let’s see how it plays out moving forward.

I never said that and disagree with anyone who did, so......

Point is. Even the media has tried to write his death certificate several times in the past.

Well yeah, of course they have....they kind of get paid to sensationalize things and to not be objective.

Point is, I would not have agreed with that statement then, but objectively comparing his teams with teams in the past, this year in my opinion is the first year where there are very obvious cracks that we have not seen before because Saban simply would not allow them.

Paterno went 11-2 in back to back seasons and finished ranked in the top 10 both years when he was 82 and 83 years old. Saban isn’t going away anytime soon.

Not sensitive, eventually Coach Saban will lose his edge. However with the talent on the field, and recruiting at the moment, I doubt it is now.

Like I said, Ole Miss beat Alabama twice in recent years, and Alabama still went on to the playoffs (and won a NC).

You are putting to much stock in Ole Miss's performance. They did well, did not fumble, but if Alabama had not fumbled on the goal line going in, Ole Miss would never have been within 14 points the rest of the game, and lost by 22.

So what you're saying is 0% chance Lane is within 2 states of Ole Miss when Saban finally retires?

Yeah, and then the next year he went 7-6 and lost in the Outback Bowl. Year after that he won 8 games and didn’t go to a bowl because his team was banned from postseason play.

Sounds promising

Alabama is not Penn State....

But unlike Ole Miss, they played for and won National Titles
