So when babies are born in Louisiana, they get cleaned up and then thrown in the dirt.

Funny enough, this tradition was started by John Swchartz, the son of a Texan senator who wanted to make sure the kid hit Texas soil first.

Guess this kind of backfired.

You name your baby after it’s born in Alabama?

Strange worry from the school that gives us the prancing milkmen.

Congrats to the new parents above.

I’d be tickled!
But I’m a happy person, in general.

I mean y’all have culture, just not what I would come up with for traditions.

Just saw this on FB. A little odd, but let them do their thing. We just had a baby 2 weeks ago and his feet haven't touched any soil. I may have to now think about how I will break him in.

Oh, mercy.

Next time you have a few hours, let me buy you a drink and enlighten you.

We have so many traditions, we bring our freshmen in to a special camp, prior to their first semester on campus, for the specific purpose of teaching them about said traditions.

It’s ridiculous (in the best of ways).

You misunderstand. I’m saying they aren’t what I would think of for traditions, not that they aren’t traditions.
