Looks like it might be Veterans Memorial in Jackson.

You could just show a picture of a white guy on a horse taking a whip to a black guy and say
"Boy, have times changed"
"Boy, have times changed"

it's one thing to be politically correct. it's another to have your university's flag girls and its crowd in the stands all waving confederate flags

Does anybody else get surprised every time somebody on here outs themselves as being old as dirt?
Diamond, how are your political Facebook rants going? Embarrassing your grandchild daily I'm sure.

Not at all. It's actually impressive, that's why it's surprising. Wouldn't have thought somebody your age would be computer literate enough to post on a message board.

I assume you share a lot of pro-Trump and anti-Obama memes

I think we know who the real racists are in this thread. As for the topic itself lets examine a couple of things.
1) Things were different and not right back in those days. But that was the way it was and had been for a hundred years. The people in the south were just living the life that they and their ancestors had always lived. Was it right ? Hell no.
2)A lot of the people in the south had members of their family (great grandpa's, granddaddies) fight in that war.
Should they not be able to remember their loved ones? Should they just be wiped from the history books because they fought on the wrong side?

I guess I should have said the side that didn't win. It really bothers me that our statues etc are being removed because of this whole lets hate on the south movement. I graduated from a high school named Robert E Lee High and I fear it's name may be changed even though the majority of students there are NOT white. It was totally gutted and is now one of the most modern and newest schools in this city. The students who go there have no problem with the name. It's just the shite stirrers that cause trouble that want to change things. Also that school was built in like 1929 and a fire almost took it out. But it still lives today and the students who go there now love it.
