Growing up for me, SEC basketball was really Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida, and everyone else. Some other schools had decent seasons every now and again, but there wasn’t a lot of consistent success outside of those three teams.

Now Pearl has Auburn in the midst of their longest period of sustained success in program history. Oats has Alabama cooking over the last four or so years. Tennessee has been consistently remarkable with Barnes. Paris and Beard have turned around USC and Ole Miss very quickly. Arkansas is bad this year but Eric Musselman is a really good coach that has had a ton of postseason success in Fayetteville.

It seems for the last few years, coaching in the SEC is better in basketball than football, and a lot of programs have really stepped up. Very cool to see, imo.

Ole Miss HC has some credentials coming to Oxford. Georgia has finally found a coach who is good enough to recruit. South Carolina has a coach who is doing it in multiple ways and even Miss State has a big dance pulse.

Oh yeah, LSU still has Will Wade at McNeese State. Congrats purple people!!

The 80s were stronger than people remember.

Joe B. Hall at Kentucky
Dale Brown at LSU
Wimp Sanderson at Alabama
Sonny Smith at Auburn
Norm Sloan at Florida

12 seasons at Bama:
- 10 NCAA Tourneys (the true Bama Sweet 16 King with 6)
- 5 SEC Tourney wins
- 22-10 average W-L record (6 single-digit loss seasons)
- successfully managed a 15-year affair with his secretary and had to punch a bitch 7 years after he broke it off with her... Oh, wait, that one is bad.

I wish we could get one at Kentucky. We just have a recruiter.

Such is the rumor.

I always wonder if she still carried a torch all those years later or got upset over a decision to either cut off or not bump up the hush money.

Wimp was from my hometown, so Bama BB was even bigger news than it was when he took over the reins at UA. I hated the scandal, but pussy remains undefeated. I've heard him speak several times, and my uncle and he were friends at UNA (Florence State at the time). He was a good motivator and recruiter—a heck of a coach.

Auburn, Ole Miss, and Georgia are all good this year.

Historically, these were the bottom teams in the 10 team SEC.

This year there are so many good teams in the league.
Winning any road game is impressive.

Bama is good, but USC is the surprise team. I watched the AU at USC game in person last season. This Gamecock squad has really come together.
