When has a team ever beat a Top 5 team twice in a season

2011: LSU and Bama
2021: Georgia and Bama
2025: Georgia and Ole Miss
Makes me think Indiana doing it twice willl be very hard.
I think there’s others but I can’t remember.
Only single one I remember to do it is 2024 Texas and Georgia
This is why despite Indiana being the better team, I think it’s near impossible to beat a top 5 team 2x in one season

I think Indiana got better and Oregon did not. That’s why the Hoosiers will sweep.

In 1999 #21 Alabama beat #3 Florida 39-40 in OT during the regular season.
Then in the SECCG, #7 Alabama beat #5 Florida 34-7.

Indiana is gonna make short work of Oregon.

2025: Georgia and Ole Miss
With that in mind, in 2023 Oregon was ranked #8 when they lost to Kalen Deboer's UW in the regular season and then was ranked #5 when they lost to them again in the Pac 12 CG.

Not including SEC titles or Natties? Because if you add those in..most SEC champs in any year have done it. Or am I confusing it and you mean the same program?

Defeated #24 Colorado
Defeated #10 Texas Tech
Defeated #2 Texas A&M
Defeated #2 Colorado
Defeated #1 USC
2008 Texas

It's not that uncommon.

Reading comprehension is skrong in this one.

You're smoking crack. You played and defeated:
#4 Ohio State
#22 Oklahoma (unranked at the time you played)
#24 Colorado (finished unranked)
#10 Texas Tech (finished #20 in the AP; #19 in the Coaches)
#2 USC (#1 at the time you played them)

Umm Ags were 5-6 in 2005. Not #2

I think OP meant same top 5 team 2X in a season. But 2017 that you mention was interesting — in span of 15 days Auburn beat #3 UGA and #4 bama, but lost RB Kerryon Johnson late in the second half of the latter to injury. When Auburn played UGA again a week later, without Johnson to lean on they could not beat UGA the second time (making the OP’s point).

Agree, not having watched many of Oregon games this year I was shocked at how bad they looked against Tech. Indiana is going to smoke them this time around.

Pretty sure both UGA and AL were ranked #1 at the time AU played them- and they ended the season as #2 and #1, respectively

You gotta think most "beating a team twice" scenarios involve a conference rivalry which adds to the difficulty. Indiana and Oregon have virtually no competitive history between them.

There was a 3-game stretch during OU's National Championship run in 2000 dubbed Red October by Sooners where they beat #11 Texas, #2 Kansas State and #1 Nebraska.
They would beat Kansas State again in the Big XII CCG though they were down to #8 by then and finished beating #3 Florida State.

You are right that they were both #1 when AU played them.

How many times in CFB history has a top 5 rematch happened between teams that were also both top 5 for the 1st game period? Pre-CFP, it took a hell of a lot of circumstance and luck to happen

Which leads to one of my favorite SEC trivia questions:
Who has won an SEC championship more recently...Mike Dubose or the Tennessee Vols?
