SEC Teams have always hated each other. but, they are all family. It is like, I hate my crazy uncle, but he is MY uncle so you better not mess with him to anyone outside the family.

SEC SEC SEC
Go SEC

This out of bounds catch was the closest Peterson has ever come to stopping Julio - it's hilarious LSU fans still bitch and moan about it after all these years.

I will come out of hibernation and then quickly back in (as I'm about to say something nice): I actually love cheering for other teams in the SEC. Not as a sycophantic thing even though I really do like the other programs associated -- but because the better our opposition is, the better we look when we win or lose.

Look at Boise State and what a weak conference gets you. The stronger our conference, the better. Good luck to everyone until you play the Gators.

It really just started with the Internet. Slowly but surely, animosity has grown with "direct" (relatively) contact with fans of other fanbases, especially amongst the ones who are more successful than the rest. Back in the day, people had only a limited amount of interaction with other fanbases and could generally count on people in their day-to-day life to share their reactions to the performance of their teams. Then came the Internet and message boards and comments sections and sportswriters from other areas of the country. People start feeling defensive about their own teams and start trying to cut down other teams...again, more so if they're generally succesful. If Vanderbilt or UK go 9-4 and lose in a bowl game, nobody has a word to say except congratulations. If LSU or Bama or Tennessee go 12-2 and lose in a bowl game, they immediately get hit from all sides with fans of other teams mocking their inability to win the NC, or at least a major bowl. If a team loses by more than a TD...mockery and trolling. If a team struggles in a win over an unranked team...mockery and trolling. If a coach says anything that could even remotely be misconstrued in an unflattering way...mockery and trolling. And so forth. It'll never change. It's a vicious cycle, and people will continue to feed it as long as they can get a reaction.

That's essentially what SEC-R is all about. Programs like Bama and LSU and TAMU have had incredibly successful runs over the last few years, but there will always be people looking for openings to poke them and diminish their success, and always be fans who will take the bait even when they know better.

2009, when Bama went basically a whole year without a holding call it started to really piss people off.

That's what made the Ole Miss game this year funny-- Bama finally saw what every other team in the league has seen against Bama and their fans lost it.

It probably started when two SEC teams played for the National Championship.

Case in point regarding my original answer. People have convinced themselves that the "other" SEC team -- usually the more successful one -- is cheating or has an unfair advantage. Back in the day, they would just bitch about it with their friends because most of them were inclined to agree. They'd whine and moan for a while and then get on with their lives because they could at least congratulate themselves for having a great season, as UF did in 2009 regardless of what happened in the SECCG. But now they can go on-line and go after the other team's fanbase and cause a big to-do that makes them feel better by trying to make the other fanbase feel worse. And, as Kurt said, so it goes.

Every time a fellow Tiger fan brings up the Peterson/Julio deal I cringe. Learn the rules, and let it go. Jones touched the ball. He was out of bounds, dead ball at that point. Peterson picked it, but it was, at that point an ..incomplete pass. FFS !!!!

LSU is ranked 5th right now with the top four teams having a regular season playoff already. If lsu loses then that means they didn't take care of business.

Just UNC and ND for me. I have been a fan of Bama and LSU since 1959 and I was in the middle of a bunch of Yankees serving in Navy.

I hate Kentucky's whining in basketball, but I know the background and anyone who hates Lexington, Louisville and Renfro Valley ain't human. Plus the best bourbon in world comes from there.

Georgia was my first favorite college football team. Though I must pull for my alma mater in that one hated game a year.

If not for Vince Dooley, Florida and Tennessee, USC would not be in the SEC. So, I can't hate the Gators nor Vols.

The Mizzou fans who travel to Carolina are super. I like the Hawgs, our4 rivals for years. I like all the rest, too, and happy that my school is a part of the greatest conference to be found anywhere.
