You could look back to the recruitment of John David Crow. He was all ready to play in Baton Rouge until a bail of hay stuffed with money and a A&M flag found its way onto his family farm.

So they have one once in 8 games and now they are equals? I guess using your logic they are actually better than Alabama.

I grew up hating Aggies and relaying Aggie jokes. I'm 43. Learned it from my dad. This has been a historical rivalry.

It'll be like the last time an SEC team came to Austin (2013) and the time before (2000)...

It’s the battle of teams with 5+ game losing streaks to Bama yet think they are still at the top of the west.

To my recollection, it started when LSU stole Harvey Williams away from A&M on signing day, 1986.

It didn't get any better in 1989 when the LSU baseball team went to the CWS Regional in College Station and upset the heavily favored Aggies twice to advance to Omaha.

But then the real animosity blossomed in 1996.

In 1986, LSU and A&M started a 10-game home-and-away series. After the first game of the series, both ADs agreed to a two-year extension to the original 10-year contract. With the addition of Arkansas and USC to the SEC in 1993 came an 8-game SEC schedule. In order to maintain their revenue, LSU had to drop a home-and-away series, and so told A&M that while they would honor the original 10-game contract, they would cancel the two-year extension. A&M agreed, as long as LSU adhered to the terms which included helping to find a suitable replacement team for A&M.

That team would be the University of Southwest Louisiana (Which ULL was known at the time.)

As agreed, LSU honored the original contract, playing the final game of the series in College Station in 1995. The following year, according to the schedule, A&M visited USL in Lafayette, and then this happened:

From that moment on, A&M went from everything was okay with the agreement with LSU, to Aggie claims that LSU owed them money for backing out of the contract. Aggie fans were apoplectic, claiming they would never - EVER - play LSU in football ever again, even going so far as to claim that they would refuse any bowl invitation if it involved playing against the Tigers. They really took that loss to USL very poorly.

When it came down to it, the backing out of a bowl claim was found to be typical aggie bluster, as they would end up getting blown out by LSU in the 2010 Cotton Bowl, 41-24.

The rest is modern history.

You went to UH, Dannyboy. How would you know anything about the A&M education?

Regardless, Aggie Nation will be pulling for the Longhorns next fall when they play LSU. That says something right there.

Why would we want that?

We want LSU to be undefeated when we ride into BR at night, also undefeated, beat that arse on national TV, then ride out with the W and the inside track to the CFP.

why did a&m install artificial turf at Kyle Field?
so the cadets' girlfriends wouldn't graze at halftime

why did the aggie athletic trainer get fired?
he forgot the recipe for ice
