I'm a HUGE Spurs fan but they aren't boring. They are fundamentally sound and incredibly efficient. Minimal turnovers and crisp passes to set up open shots.

Turge's teams were good defensively but frustrating to watch offensively. It doesn't have to be all breakaway dunks, just solid execution and efficient offense. His style was more "pass the ball around the perimeter until the shot clock gets down and then try and get the best look you can". Then they played tough D on the other end for the most part which was good but it just made for ugly basketball. If they won more big games it might have made it more tolerable.

Playing "ugly" is only effective if you consistently know how to win ugly, I agree.

I just wanted to hear him be positive and encouraging like Gary Blair and make people WANT to support the team instead of feeling obligated to.

Fair point well made.

I can't think of one position that someone needs to be in good shape in baseball to do well except maybe the catcher. And only because he has to squat the whole game.

Pitchers. If I knew as little about baseball as you, I wouldn't like it either.

Spot frickin' on. And those who think it's boring generally don't recognize all the strategies and counter strategies being employed below the surface.
I do understand them, and it doesn't change my opinion. I don't understand the fixation LSU fans have our baseball attendance and A&M's basketball attendance when it affects them in no way and their own basketball attendance is laughable.

CC Sabathia is in no way in pristine shape and he is one of the best pitchers in the majors. Shortstop would have been a better example.

So you give me one guy. And I would bet that big boy is in better shape than you think. Pitchers run a lot.

You said pitchers have to be athletic to be good and he is one of the top players at his position despite not being in great shape.

Since when do SEC baseball teams have fat centerfielders? And shortstop?

They always seem to have a beer gut. I guess I just figured it's the same reason so many softball players are a little big.

Some are small and petite, but the stereotype doesn't really lean that way.

Doesn't really make a sport more interesting assuming that someone has hidden athletic skill that isn't apparent at first glance. TBH.

The sport did start catering to the bigger guys with the loaded bats and gorilla ball in college. The pros were doing roids. That's because everyone wanted the more "exciting" homerun fest. Now college and below has been scaling the bats down and you will start to see more of a push to the more athletic players because you won't be able to just have fat guys that can hit homeruns. But then people like you will complain that it is boring because the smaller athletic guys aren't hitting homeruns.

Well, then I'll just watch golf. Golf is more interesting and exciting to me than baseball. It's because I grew up with people and friends who golfed more than played baseball.

Naturally, if Alabama does well in baseball, I'll be excited, and in a close game, I'm drawn in. But that goes for softball too. Anyone who saw the Softball CWS last year saw that the competitive suspense was as good as it gets. And that goes for people who like and watch baseball. Why should something matter more because it's men?

The difference is that when they lose, it's not really that big of a deal. I just spoke with an LSU friend, who explained to me who our last baseball coach before the one we have now is, and why LSU cared about him. He was also the first to say that before LSU was good at baseball, the mentality was a lot like Alabama's.

No use fretting or pining for something that doesn't exist, and there is no use belittling or mocking someone because they don't have your interests.

And I'm not complaining about anything. This is why I don't care about baseball. It's why people in my family do things like row crew and play tennis, or play golf or rugby or football, and why even if Alabama is AMAZING at baseball, I'll be psyched but probably won't ever care that much.

And I apologize that the thing that LSU is better at, Alabama fans like me don't care about as much.

You are the one who said you liked watching better athletes and men are better athletes. Take it up with the rest of the country I guess but I would guess gymnastics is about the only sport that people follow the women more than men. Maybe that's wrong and you can find some documentation against it. Going exercise so I don't get fat.

Because we have a pathetic AD that doesn't care about baseball so he's let our facilities fall to among the worst in the country and hires a terrible coach to boot.

Still, Alabama who supposedly "only cares about football" outdrew what many consider a major basketball program (Florida) by just over 2,000 per game.

You outdrew Duke as well. Of course, your arena is larger then both UF and Duke's, so not exactly sure what that proves.

But I think Bama cares about basketball. Getting a guy like Grant shows the commitment, he was a pretty highly sought after guy.

This has to be the weakest, lamest, limp-dickingest 5 page thread in the history of this site.

Please. Someone take this thread out behind Tigerdroppings.com and shoot it. Put this nag out of her misery.
