I let you in on a little secret as I was a baseball player in college... Baseball players in college are the biggest douche bags you will find anywhere. Add to that the average male at Ole Miss is a bigger douche bag than the average male at any other school in the nation(have plenty of friends who went to Ole Miss.)

When you add those two things together you get the Ole Miss Baseball team. It's like a mix of super frat douchebag and baseball douchebag

That's a perfect summation

The part about the baseball players, I cannot argue with. The students in general, it just depends.

This is where all sports are headed, imo. It's all about showboating. Used to be that the celebration was for after the game, but not anymore. From WR's in the NFL celebrating a 1st down like they just won a Super Bowl, to NBA stars prancing around like supermodels on a runway during the offseason because they joined the same team, this is sports in our present day.

The greater question is why Mizzou is in the SEC.

Ole Miss baseball is pretty damn sporty. What does Mizzou bring to the table in anything?

it does depend. Im not saying everyone that goes there is a douche. I know plenty of cool people. but there is a higher percentage of douche IMO. a lot of kids who come from money at ole miss. Also a lot of drugs. Xanax galore. Never met a person hooked on Xanax I wanted to be around

They don't behave like other SEC ballclubs.

I noticed this as well. The radio guys talked about it during the regular season, as well as during the first two games of the SR.

The crowd mockingly going BOOM! after every run was a result of how Ole Miss' team behaved in the dug-out. It reminded me of when we play non-SEC teams and they do chatter, etc. Then the fans get on their asses and they stop.

It is definitely not the norm for SEC baseball teams.

Oh man you're so right. I mean the audacity OM has to allow their players to enjoy themselves and have fun!!!! It just burns me up. Why can't we act serious and repressed like all the other teams? I for one want my baseball team to look miserable and just downtrodden.

The point of playing SEC ball for most is to go to the majors. Major league teams don't act like girls softball teams.

If you don't understand the difference between looking "miserable and downtrodden" and behaving like a grown man, then you have a problem.

Fans can be silly and crazy. Teams should respect the game enough to not behave like they're sorority girls who just discovered wine coolers.

Haha ok sorry I didn’t mean to disrespect the sanctity of college baseball. And I mean I can see what you mean, we only had 8 guys drafted this year so mlb teams must agree with an angry middle aged poster such as yourself!!

Yes they have fun, yes they do rally stuff and show more emotion than most teams but good lord these are 18-22 year old kids playing a GAME. GAME. And now there’s all these butt hurt old men mad online because of it. If the way they play bothers you, grow up. You need to re-evaluate your life priorities.

By the way, I’m all for guys pimping the heck out of a homer. Watch it till it hits the ground from the batters box for all I care. I think it’s fun. However I’m also all for that guy getting thrown at next time around. It’s a game. You play your way and deal with it

College students enjoying college athletics. Shocking.
Do you prefer the college athletes act as disinterested professional athletes? Or, do you want them taking a knee during the National Anthem? Do tell.

Teams in Omaha this weekend focus on hitting the ball. OM focuses on how they’ll celebrate if they hit the ball. That’s one reason OM doesn’t ever go to Omaha.

This is the point I’ve been making? I can’t tell if you’re agreeing with me? Bc this is the exact thing I’m saying. Most of these are done after college. They’re with their friends playing a game they love. Can you imagine how boring it would be to be a 19 year old sitting the bench and giving a golf clap when your best friend drops a bomb? Yeah pros don’t show as much emotion but pros also get paid hundred or thousand of dollars.

Nah, just easy to misread. We like to give Ole Miss baseball a lot of grief, they are an easy target. They were just late to the game investing money and support like LSU and State did a couple of decades earlier. They finally got some administrators who realized going all in on football was a losing proposition for Ole Miss. Good for them.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with ole Miss other than that poor kid that got sniped in the dugout. Traded in his rose gold iPhone for some nose gold.
