I've seen him on the AU's sideline for a ton of games. Hear he's pretty close to the program. Anybody know the connection?
Just wondering since he's a LSU grad.

Dr Andrews' first 15 years or so in his medical career was spent in Columbus, GA. Right down the street from AU. Sure that has a lot to do with it.

He is Co-Medical Director of intercollegiate sports at Auburn. This was formed due to him being good and his proximity to Auburn in his early practice years.

amazing how one top athlete can totally turn you into the "pro athletes' surgeon".

He's considered to be one of if not the best ortho surgeon on the planet when dealing with sports related injuries. Tom Brady caught a lot of flak for not going to him first when the team recommended him to go there.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but if you have ever been to Andrews' practice it's not just one athlete.
The hallway looks like a who's who of sports figures.

Because of his attention to the local patient base, Andrews has attained a deified status in his adoptive state of Alabama: He's a team doctor for Alabama and Auburn. (His official titles: senior orthopedic consultant and co-medical director, respectively.) His rooting interests lie firmly with Auburn, with whom he has long been affiliated, and he takes sides (with the exception of the Auburn-Alabama game) when "covering" football games.
"He'll pace the sidelines like a cat," says Dr. John Richardson, who has covered Auburn games with Andrews. "When they screw up, he'll yell, 'What the hell are they doing?' When he's mad at the officials, he'll throw down his hat and scream, 'That's the sorriest call I ever saw!'
Andrews has been affiliated with the Tigers since he was a medical cub because his mentor, Dr. Jack Hughston, was Auburn's longtime team physician. Based in Columbus, Ga., he was one of the few prominent sports orthopedists in the 1960s and 1970s."

• Deuce McAllister: knee, 2005
Dr. Andrews operated on my son's rotator cuff the same day he operated on Deuce's knee. One the nurses said Dr. Andrews performed about 16 operations per day twice a week back then. Amazing, especially for someone his age.

I went to school with his two daughters at OM. One was pretty cool, the other was pretty stuck up

While in Columbus, Andrews built up relationships with not only Auburn but Troy, Tuskegee and Livingston(now West Alabama). Can't figure out why it took so long for Alabama to form a relationship with him.

Tripe H went to him a couple of years ago for his knee injury. They even showed it on Monday Night RAW.

Here's a question. He obviously deals with both Auburn and Bama's teams, but one of his daughters cheered at OM. I wonder who he cheers for. Even if he cheered for another team before his daughter went to OM, I would imagine he probably pulls for them a bit now

Guess I didn't
If I had a child affiliated with athletics at another school, I am sure I would start to cheer for them though
Some would be tougher than others though.
