I bet you were laughing when the score was 24-0 too weren't you...

"That offense won't work in year 3...it don't have nothing to do with the fact that your team is completely rebuilding...we just figured it out..."

When it was clear in the 1st half that USU could easily win the game, I don't think the coaches hid anything.

You would think that but facts say otherwise. First half the D played almost predominantly Cover 2. They had outside leverage and the numbers all day on the swing screen to the receiver which was easy 8-12 yards every single time. Zero adjustments to the formation until the 4th quarter when Auburn went to a Cover 1 look, and actually stopped it for a 0 yard gain. I'm trying to remember when I saw an actual blitz in the first half. There were a couple of zone blitzs in the 4th quarter but before there was almost all base Cover 2. Made me want to pull my hair out because it was obviously not working. Watching the replay the D-line didn't play nearly as bad as I thought. The LB and secondary's run support were abysmal, running themselves out of the play. Getting blown up out of the play. I honestly don't know what Auburn sees in Darren Bates as an outside linebacker, that kid misses way many more tackles than he makes. A couple of times last week he has the ball carrier leveraged against the sideline only to whiff on a head shot flying out of bounds while the runner advances the ball another 5-7 yards.

Why is Auburn rebuilding in Chizick's third year? That's supposed to be the money year when you hire a new coach. BAMA rebuilt last year and lost 3 games. Can AU keep up with that or will they be lucky to win 3 games?

Almost my exact same thoughts after watching the replay. D-line wasn't dominant and making plays, but they weren't getting blown up either. The ends over ran a play a time or two, but the LBs were terrible.

Well, this kind of goes against the spirit of this thread, but would it really be that much of a shock if the Staters- fresh off their conquering of the mighty Memphis Tigers- leave Auburn with a loss this weekend?

On a side note, State is playing three Tigers in a row.

I'm thinking they'll get a little tougher each week.

Hmm...I don't know why year 3 would be the rebuilding year...oh maybe it is because over half the previous coaches last recruiting class never saw the field and a friggin thousand players graduated or left early for the draft? Pretty sure that was not the situation at Bama when Saban came in...

Auburn's offensive gameplan was vanilla all of last year. Not sure if everyone forgot, but Cam left, Cam right, and Cam up the middle were your favorite 3 plays... That's pretty vanilla, difference is, no Cam this year! Enjoy.

Take away last year. I know it's a big feather in Chiz's hat but for arguments sake take it out of the discussion. Anytime a new coach is hired, the third season in, is the one everyone looks to in order to guage the new coaches system or direction of the program. Auburn is going to be in a fight to win 2 conference games. Preseason alot of people had MSU and Ole Miss as those and thats not looking like much of a sure thing at this point. Is that what anyone should expect in the new coaches 3rd year. Chiz has had 3 recruiting classes. His first recruits are juniors now. Why are expectations so low (and they are low)for the 3rd year? Now since you wanted to bring up Saban. Has AU played more freshman and sophomores in significant roles than BAMA the last 3 years? NO. Thats because our freshmen and sophs are talented enough to see the field. Has AU had more juniors get drafted by the NFL than BAMA over the last 3 years? NO. BAMA has just recruited and developed better talent with better coaching period so put down that crutch. When you are an established program 10 - 3 is a rebuilding year.

Never been to Hogville, thanks tho, I'll check it out.. I am assuming that you disagree?

IMO the same Auburn team that won the NC last year, without Cam, would most likely have finished behind MSU in the West. Keep acting like I am wrong about him being your offense last year. You will see soon enough that I am correct.
