Gives a chance for teams not only to get in but improve their seed. UK still in the hunt for a 1 seed

So that a hot team that is peaking at the right time has a chance to get into the tournament. Unlike football, a bball team that improves over the season has an opportunity to play on even with several losses.

Before the Big Dance was enlarged it was a chance for teams to end the season in a positive way. I see no use to continue with them now.

Just because LSU hasn't won an SEC tournament title in 42 years doesn't mean they shouldn't have conference tournaments.
Baseball conference tournaments are even more meaningless but no one is suggesting they get rid of the SEC baseball tournament

On the flip side, I see no reason NOT to continue with them. Post season college basketball conference tournaments and their brackets and especially the NCAA tourney itself are some of the best events in all of sports

Ivy League has had a tournament for a few years now. They were the first to cancel because of Covid in 2020.

To select a representative to the NCAA tourney, AU is now not in but the SEC tourney champ will be.
Of course AU will make it but their spot is not guaranteed, really applies to the smaller conferences as a P5 regular season champ will always make it it at large.

To give bubble teams a chance to earn their way into the NCAA tournament or have their hearts broken one more time. That's why we play.
