Not sure if this is the dumbest but Ray Goff, on a sloppy, wet field in the rain had Florida rekick a kickoff after they had scored to get within 7 right before the half.
On the first kick Florida had an offsides and instead of just taking the ball and finishing off the half, Goff had them kick again, Georgia fumbled it, Florida recovered and wound up scoring another TD to tie the game at halftime. And of course Florida went on to win by 7.

1988 Sugar Bowl
An unbeaten Syracuse team vs a once beaten Auburn team.
Syracuse had a 16–13 lead With 1 second remaining. Coach Dye decided to go for the tie instead of the win..
.Auburn kicked the 30-yard field goal for Auburn to have the game end in a 16–16 tie.

As bad as I felt a bout the Bobby scandal and that he shouldn't have been fired. I didn't see a way that he could have keep his job since be broke state laws.
Now one of the worst decisions goes to Houston Nutt. 2005 against Vandy. It was 2nd and short and Nutt called the same play three times running up the middle. They turned it over on downs late in the fourth quarter. Darren McFadden, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis were on the bench.
But that just scratches the surface. He had a lot more.
