With Tebow gone, I think he'll be considered the 2nd best QB in the SEC behind Mallett next year. What says the Rant?

Average skillset for an SEC QB.
Difference between him and say Chris Todd is a fantastic Offensive Line and heart.

What about McElroys heisman performances this year against Chattanooga and South Carolina?

were really gonna bring up Chattanooga?

Maybe it was just a joke but then again he was horrible against South Carolina.

I would agree totally that he has an average skillset, but he's smart and cool under pressure and take that and a solid arm with decent athleticism and you can be a pretty good college QB.

And quite a bit more arm strength.

In the SECCG on the play where Jenoris Jenkins took a bad angle on the quick hitch by Maze, and he took it 30+ yards showed McElroy's deceptive arm strength. Jenkins thought he could jump the route, and if Chris Todd had thrown that same pass, Jenkins could've gotten away with it.

I think his skillset is very underrated by posters. Definetely better than average. His biggest knock was lack of experience, and most thought he would fail in the big game. He did the opposite and upstaged Tebow. That says a lot about his mindset.

Next year, with his experience from this year, he will be really good. His stats will never match Mallett, Snead, etc. Only because of the offense Bama runs. But he will be a guy you want running your offense in the clutch, IMO.

Loved his block in the SECCG. Reminded me of JPW's at Vandy 2 years ago.

I can't think of one SEC QB I'd rather have than McElroy. Not one.

I don't see this lack of arm strength people are citing. You could see early in the year his lack of confidence was causing timid throws. As the year went on, he had more zip on the ball.

If anyone watched the SECCG and felt his skillset was average, they didn't watch the game that I did.

I was very critical of McElroy for a while, even when he played well against LSU I thought he gave away points

I agree i felt like he left 14-21 pts on the field with bad throws, I couldnt believe my eyes against Fla. He shut me up and I had said he was below avg all year.

SECCG MVP is pretty good, I'd say.

Was JJ in Atlanta? I don't recall seeing him...

Reminds me of Matt Mauck. Smart, accurate, handles pressure. Both had great defenses and running games so they never had to do a WHOLE lot.
