Finebaum actually made a good point about Pruitt when he said Pruitt's communication/PR skills are the worst that he's ever seen from a college head coach. He completely botched the quarterback situation and then kept making snarky remarks instead of giving answers about how he plans to fix the QB position during his press conferences. The way he's acted completely turned off the Vols fanbase and I can't blame them one bit.

How was he supposed to fix it? Maurer was injured, had concussions, missed spring and fall, had a mental health issue. Shrout sucked every time he was put on the field til garbage time Florida (played 2 years as a turnover machine playing scared). Bailey was a true freshman that didn’t get a spring and missing fall due to contract tracing. Hill had transferred out. Holiday had moved to WR and was a true freshman.
Literally Gitmo was the only healthy best option. Pruitt hates to lose and got the same question every press conference. Of course it irritated him and caused answers according.

By bringing in legit QB prospects in the first place probably and/or providing them a good QB coach. Instead he said thanks but no thanks to Penix and Sam Howell among other.

Pruitt is pretty dumb - even by football coach standards. However, fatass knew this and hired him anyways.
Now that it’s blown up in his face, I guess he’s trying to fire him with cause?
I get that Pruitt’s not great, but why’d he even get hired? He got rejected from Mississippi State, and TN is allegedly a better job, so I’m not sure what the angle ever was with hiring the guy.
Everyone had to have seen this coming.

Fulmer is not trying to fire Pruitt. He wants to give him more time. He felt he deserved more time before we fired him so he will probably give him 6 years if he could.
