I don't think it really matters. Arkansas and Miss State got hit with bad fortune and bad hires right before a time where that just can't happen anymore. Auburn is inches away from this fate as well, but we have history those two don't. It's hard to imagine those two teams becoming competitive again before there are some real guard rails in CFB.
Of course you could hit the jackpot like Vandy did by hiring NMSU's QB and offensive staff.

Why didn't Auburn get those two? Would have had a winning record for sure.

It's not a wow hire. Pittman wasn't either, but I think people thought it was a solid hire.
We play them every year, so personally, I hope he stinks it up and they stay at the bottom of the league :)

Seems like the obvious choice coming from Memphis
I wish him well as I've always had a distant like for the Hawgs.
We'll see how much $ and latitude the AD gives him

Because Auburn has had three consecutive head coaches who claimed to know offense but who couldn’t hand pick a QB to succeed in their system, even when the answer was beating on their door:
Malzahn maintained the commitment of Jeremy Johnson, and didn’t put every effort into signing Deshaun Watson
Malzahn hand picked Tyler Queen over a guy named Lamar Jackson
Harsin ran off Bo Nix, a Heisman finalist, and played TJ Finley and Robbie Benson-Ashford
Hugh Freeze brought in Peyton Thorne instead of Diego Pavia, who he watched play
Hugh Freeze brought in Jackson Arnold instead of this years Heisman Winner Mendoza, who he watched play
Malzahn would still be at Auburn if he did one simple thing: his job, evaluate talent correctly

Chad Morris that can win an SEC game or two before he gets fired.

Have not spent a single minute thinking about Arkansas football in weeks. No idea what the new guy's name is
