Emory Jones has more upside, and is better suited to run Mullen’s offense, imo.

Trash is pretty good, but I think Jones takes a big step forward this year, and my win the job.

I definitely think he gives UF a chance to compete for again the division and likely another top 10 team (maybe top 4 if things work out - but that's still optimisitic). As you mentioned, he does have good poise and command of the offense.

OL should be solid for next year and he's got some good talent. Jefferson and Perine were pretty big losses but Pitts at TE and Cleveland are still very good weapons to work with.

Sad to say but I can't disagree. I thought J Driskel 2012 version was at least going to indicate a good run by him, but he got hurt in 2013 and never regained his form for his last year in 2014.

He'll be very solid. I think he will end up being much better than Franks.

Seems like a bad take. A guy that has never played before last year finally gets experience and you’re saying he’s already peaked? That seems like wishful thinking.

Trask will do well this year. But he needs to improve on being aware of the DE that’s about to kill him on his blind side. Once he learns how to swivel his head, he’ll excel.

And this ...

UGA fans are fairly confident that a guy who excelled against the best competition in the country after not starting for 8 years won’t get better.

They also think their new QB is gonna just step right in instantly and be the best QB in the SEC.

He'll be a competitor. As soon as Franks went down, UF upgraded. No idea why Mullen stuck with Franks for so long.

Mullen LOVES a running qb. It’s why he kept subbing in the true freshman that had the passing ability of a log but wheels for days.

I’m convinced Mullens’ ideal qb is a smart full back that player baseball in HS.

Trask should have another solid season, without knowing what we'll get from all the newcomers in the conference, hard to tell where he'll fall in the pecking order, but outside the Top 5 would be shocking.

He does have some new targets to be throwing to this season, but honestly just throw it to Pitts 150 times this season and he should be fine

People are trying to equate UF's situation with what UGA went through last year with Fromm losing his WR's... except that UF returns:

Kyle Pitts
Trevon Grimes
Kadarius Toney (hurt for most of the year; returned late)
Jacob Copeland

That is nothing like what UGA had returning last year.

If our OL improves Trask will have a great year.

Copeland will be the one to watch considering how much he improves as a freshman to sophomore. Grimes isn't elite by any stretch but is solid. Toney I dont really consider a receiver, he's a gadget player and a screen heavy "Receiver" basically, not trying to knock him because he's a big play threat, but he's not really a guy you throw it to often on a traditional route tree.

UF is losing a lot of targets, certainly not left with nothing but Trask will get acquainted to throwing it to some new guys for sure. In the end though like I said, just be very friendly to Pitts, hardly anyone can cover him anyways.

I can't for the life of me figure out how Felipe Franks was ahead of him on the UF qb depth chart.

Franks is a big strong dude who has really good top end speed and all the tools. He just can't get out of his own head sometimes with his decision making. Take a look at the 2018 game vs MSU when we ran a gillion little WR screens and watch him have quick release and put ball after ball on the money. He has all the tools. Tough as nails. He is just not a gamer. Some kids shine when the lights come on. He seems to doubt himself. Always held the ball a little too long unless it was a pre-snap read.

Seems like Mullen is good at getting his qbs to reach their ceilings rather quickly. That says a lot about the effectiveness of his offensive system and his coaching.
