The thing with all those schools is they pretty much have a ceiling on them due to resources.
So does Ms. State...
They all do have another thing in common.

Ask Michigan how that worked out.
You think Stans ball sucks...then go ahead and get someone like Amacker

So Bundy, you're going to tell us the Mississippi State job is better then NC State? Bundy, Shaka is staying put at VCU...because if he wanted to go big,he would be coaching the Wolfpack (the job he turned down last year).
I'm not saying that.
Just saying he Mississippi State job is better than VCU and St. Mary's.

What is better?
Georgia pays more, has better facilities, has a better history, better conference, is on TV more, is more known nationally etc...
And hasn't ever won dick.
St. Mary's has more potential in basketball because they care about basketball.
Georgia cares about Mediocrity and strives to achieve it in everything they do.
Ms. State wants to take the cheap route and hope it works out before the contract runs out and they have to try again.

Who do you think we should go after then, WildcatMike

So, he would go to Starkville over NC State?
HE TURNED DOWN NC STATE to stay put at VCU.
Maybe you should keep Stans if you think a big time name is coming to coach.

Shaka says VCU is a better job than NC State.
Since NC State is a better job than Ms. State it is easy to see Shaka is staying put.
1.8 million.

that's a different set of circumstances. NC State is in a state, let alone conference with Duke and UNC.

Told you...Prohm of Murray State.
Murray State has a history of pumping out some good D1 coaches. Gott, Kennedy, Cronin are a few. Prohm has some exciting basketball (guard driven offense).

Shaka is no dumbass. Why go to NC State and have to recruit against Duke & UNC for top recruits. Easy choice.
Posted on 2/19/12 at 1:54 pm to 3rdandlong83
You realize the amount of support NC State pumps into basketball...It is mostly a basketball school with a rich history (until recently)...Plus, NC State was throwing bank to get Shaka (over $1.8-2 million/year).

I don't think it really matters that much whether he thinks VCU is a better job than MSU or NCSU. It's just more likely that he thinks VCU is a good enough job for him to win consistently and hold out for a much better job than MSU or NCSU.
Why go to MSU or NCSU if he thinks he can hold out for Florida, or Louisville, or some top program?
Also Georgia has potential, just in the fact that they're sitting on a fricking goldmine of talent. I don't know what's needed there though, maybe more of a commitment from the administration? But there's so much talent in Georgia. The fan support isn't that great though.

Raleigh will always be in North Carolina, where Duke and UNC reside. It will always be #3 in its own state, regardless of support.

Please look at the 4 and 5*'s that have committed to NC State the past 3 years and compare that to Mississippi State...then tell me who has a recruiting advantage.

Both Smart and Bennett have been mentioned on short lists for UCLA if Howland goes (and Westwood is not happy right now). Bennett is almost exclusively a west coast guy and has turned down Pac-12 jobs that are better than State. Smart turned down NC State which is better than State.
You guys are going to have to dig deeper than that because while State may be better than VCU or St. Mary's, it's not bigger than some of the bigger stops that may come open for those guys who are holding out.

Wake Forrest has been above NC State over the past 20 years.

Wanna bet that UL goes after the Munster when Rick quits and then Grant heads to Gainsville?
Shaka would not get a sniff ...Stevens of Butler woulod get a look for Louisville.

I'm not sold on Proehm he has only been a head coach one year.

It doesn't matter what I believe, Smart believes the VCU job is a good job as he turned down jobs better than Ms. State last year...
VCU has been to the tourney more recently, frequently, and further more recently than Ms. State...
So you have personally talked to him and he told you this to your face. You are either well connected or the biggest fricking troll on this board
