This won't be a popular opinion I'm sure, but I'm kind of hoping we get more than two years out of Cornwell and start him as a true freshman if he does well enough in fall practice. (I'm not sure if he gets on campus for Spring.)

We went 11-1 this year...

I personally want Bateman to get a shot or have Coker transfer to Bama. But if Cornwell is the best QB in practice, he should start. Saban's offense is perfectly designed to protect QBs that are either inexperienced or have serious limitations to their game.

right, with a very good QB.... or at least someone who was capable of making plays on his own and not needing the running game to set up defenses.

my point is AJ was good enough to overcome average OL play... it will take the next guy some time to get to that level... the schedule does set up nicely though.

He's just a game manager, so...

...they won't have anyone to manage their games.

Lets not pretend that Sims is a traditional passing QB. He will most likely get some running plays designed for him into the offense(zone read, etc) along with the normal stuff. He would not have stayed in that position that long if he didn't truly believe he was going to be the QB in 2014.

If Sims is our starter, we won't compete for the West.

I don't believe that. If Sims is the starter its because he earned the spot.

I'm glad that you usually don't know what you are talking about, otherwise I'd be worried.

Bama of course will still be an elite team. AJ, in my opinion, was a damn fine college QB and I enjoyed watching him play. He helped bring home two NC along the way. Kudos to him! Nothing should be taken away from that kid, and hope he makes in the NFL.

Unless we have an all-time greatest defense next year, I see us losing to both LSU and Auburn and possibly a third with Sims. I think those two losses alone knock us out of the West race.

With Sims, we are basically wasting the best receiving corps we've ever had.

Stick to hockey. How could you possibly know that Sims is so terrible? He has never played except for mop-up time. He will be a Senior next season and certainly is a good athlete who will know the offense well.

You may be right but if you are, its only a guess unless you are one of the coaches.

How do you know he will be good as a senior? You don't. All you can give is an opinion. If you can't give an opinion, then there's no point of having a message board.

From what I've seen, Sims is just an athletic guy they put at QB while we had low numbers. The fact that no one has really beaten him out yet is concerning to me.

I don't expect Sims to be good. Like I've said before, it isn't even his ability to throw the ball, it is how uncomfortable he looks passing and how erratic he is. He's made some decent throws, but against a first team defense in the first quarter he'd be throwing picks and getting sacked with the way he acts in the pocket.

And his running ability has never really wowed me. Not as a QB, or even as a RB.
