What will classify Coker as a bust in the eyes of the SECr?

I've heard a lot of people who are convinced that Jacob Coker will be a bust because he couldn't beat out the Heisman winner and his garbage time stats were pedestrian.
Let's talk expectations for Coker's statistics. At what point will he be considered a success? A bust?
For comparison's sake, here are GMc and AJ's first year starting numbers:
McElroy: 198/325 2508 yds, 17 TD 4 INT
McCarron: 219/328 2634 yds 16 TD 5 INT
Coker has arguably better skill players across the board surrounding him than McElroy or McCarron did as first year starters, but Coker will most likely be playing with a weaker offensive line than his predecessors.
Most Bama fans that I know would be content with Coker repeating the success of GMc and AJ's first years. Of course, we'll take him winning the Heisman, too.
So, Rant, what is the threshold for calling Coker a bust? Under 15 TD? More than 5-6 INT? Under 60% completion percentage? Win-loss record?

Coker is being glorified as the savior for an Alabama offense that has no where else to turn at QB right now. If he doesn't throw 73 touchdown passes, the rant will shite all over him.

Based on the excitement of Bama fans over getting him, I will say not winning the heisman, the SEC and the NC.

If you were looking at Blake Sims as your starting qb, you'd be ecstatic, too.

Coker hasnt started a single game in college, has only thrown 1 Td in his entire college career, and is coming off of knee surgery. The media and Alabama fans want to believe the hype, but when all is said and done, he will be the pedestrian QB that he has always been. He was the back up for a reason. He lost his starting position to a Freshman. He is NOT the answer at Qb for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Has he ever led a team on a game winning drive? Has he ever played in a packed stadium on the road or at home? Has he ever faced adversity, started a game or had to put a team on his shoulders?
The answer is no. Dont get your hopes up Tide fans. This season will not go the way you have planned in your heads

To me, it's simple: if he does not win the starting job prior to the first game, and keep the starting job throughout the year, I will consider him a bust.

Let's all keep in mind...
He would've been 3rd string had Clint Trickett not transferred from Florida State to West Virginia.

Do you consider Greg McElroy to be a pedestrian qb?

What would you consider "the answer"? Do you think he is capable of matching GMc or AJ's first year starting numbers? I'm not talking Heisman or first round draft grade. I'm talking functional game manager.

Nick Marshall had never accomplished any of these things as QB prior to last year. Who says it can't happen again?

Hell, at this point I would take a Jay Barker quality qb. Prettiest handoff in football.

The fact he will play at Bama means most of the people on this board will automatically call him a bust

Normally it's just neither a fair nor accurate measure to grade a qb strictly on wins, but alabama is a bit of a deviation from that in my mind.
Bama measures success strictly in wins losses and championships. That's what will determine his bust or success status. He has to win the west in the next 2 seasons at minimum and that's all that really matters imo.

quote:No. He is not as accurate a passer as either of the two Qbs mentioned

Also, dont bring up comparisons to bolster your confidence in Alabama's Qb situation. How many games have all Qbs on Alabama's roster started, combined?
