I highly doubt Bama will get rid of DeBoer after 2 or 3 years. His buyout is $69 million after 2 years and 60 million after 3 years. Does Bama have that kinda $$?
For some strange reason you seem to think we’re poor. Nick has been the highest paid coach in the sport since he came, which I seem to recall a LOT of commentary on how much we were overpaying him.
We’re probably top 5 in the dollars we can throw around at need. Winning attracts money, which we’ve been doing for a long time. We just threw down nearly 50 million on a new golf facility.
Money is the last of our worries.
As to DeBoer. He’s got problems with this team, one of which is Nick didn’t exactly recruit choir boys, which he could get away with because he had enough rings to use two hands to wear them all. They’d listen.
DeBoer has shown to be an excellent coach, but he isn’t the hard arse Nick was not does he have the hardware to show off. So some are reverting to their “me, me, me” personality and not playing within a team concept.
Can he channel that? I don’t know. I expect in two years, maybe 3 we’ll say what was said when Nick retired.
You don’t want to be the coach who follows the GOAT, you want to be the coach who follows that one.
As far as our fans go, same ones thought Saban was washed up at least 3 times. They’d bitch if you hung them with a new rope

Kind of bad considering you have drastically more talent than those LSU teams.
Yeah, by Alabama standards.
By LSU standards we can do this for the next 10 years and be considered national contenders every year.

Chunk a brick though his office window, that’ll wake him up.

LSU has never had the most talent in the country plus a coach with a .800 win percentage and lost 3-4 games in a season.

It's just Alabama doing less with more.

Saban made it impossible for any mortal to follow him. Just as it was for Perkins after Bryant, it's impossible for DeBoer. He's probably a good coach under normal conditions, but he showed a lack of common sense in following the GOAT. Unfortunately, he and his family will continue to pay the price.

Exactly. Only a fool would expect it to continue.

Saban said give him time to do things his way. He also knows the locker room issues as he recruited and coached many of those players.
Saban could still hold people asses to their jobs/positions even with NIL because of his name and legendary status. DeBoer doesn’t have that. He’s going to have to grow some balls and hold them to it anyways or he will never have a real “team”.
In his defense the landscape has changed drastically. I heard from a friend this week who scouts for OM that people used to build relationships with the players and there was a strong bond build. Now with NIL the players will drop you at the first offer of more money. It’s changed everything including the players already on the team. It’s all “business” and no loyalty. Hard to build a team on that.

We are half of a season into his career at Alabama. He has a brand new staff and is being introduced to coaching in a very difficult conference. He has a top five win and a couple of bad losses. I’m not surprised by where we are.

If it goes on year after year like it has (minus 2019) you will have a point.

But LSU fans think Alabama is going to suck bad for a long time.

Alabama had more talent than LSU in 2019

The SEC is just a different beast and a lot of coaches just can’t handle the everyday grind it takes to be consistently successful.
He's young and just needs more experience. No coach can be expected to replace both Bear Bryant and Saban within just a one season stretch.
DeBoer doesn't have his players on the roster yet; he needs his type of recruits that can play his type of ball. There was no way for him to just rush in and replace Milroe because Milroe is a good person and has the support of the team. It would have been racist to replace Milroe if the other players didn't approve of that.
Maybe next season, Milroe will move on to the NFL and then DeBoer will be free to do what he wants. The only other way to replace Milroe, at this point, would be for the players to have a team meeting and replace him with another QB.
Overall, DeBoer just needs time and the support of the team leaders to do his job properly. If they decide he is a quality coach, look out, Bama will be deadly.

If Nuss leaves, maybe he can come to LSU and compete with Underwood.
Sloan can fix him.

The fans will want him gone. Perhaps the boosters, too.
Fact is, he's playing with a roster of kids he didn't recruit outside of a few transfers. Really shitty situation to judge an established and accomplished HC like Deboer.

Year 1 is kinda when you see what you have and what you'll need in the future.
Year 2 is where you see if the changes made start to pay off.
Year 3 things should be chugging along.

No… they were patient with the basketball hire and they’ll be patient with DeBoer. It’s gonna take him a few years. He’s currently recruiting at a high level. As long as he does that, Bama will be fine. The minute recruiting starts to dip, he’s fricked.
