The good argument is Alabama played a very tough schedule and had more high quality wins than any other contender and went undefeated in the SEC, culminating with a win over undefeated and two time defending champion Georgia. Pretty compelling argument if you take off your orange and blue colored glasses. I would even go so far as to say that if you have a playoff in college football and don’t include a team with that resume then you have absolutely failed.

Just playing in the sec isn't a reason to get in. Bama scraped by 3 out of the 4 worst teams in the West. The conference as a whole had a losing record to the ACC yall keep trashing. The sec champ lost by 10 at home to the number 3 team who is from the big 12.

Winning the sec in this era, defeating the most top 25 teams along the way (tied with Washington ), culminating with a win over the undefeated number one team, is more than enough. Here’s a comparison of resumes:

From the outside looking in, it CAN sometimes be entertaining watching the pUG dogs, elephants, and War Chickens fans go at it. I guess it's because of how serious they are, but it's really not serious to other fan bases.
They do get red-assed about their teams, sure, but it's usually in good spirit and fun. As a MICHIGAN fan, when I read about fans that live in Georgia & Alabama, and they start "feuding" about their teams, I just assume they're fighting over who lives in the nicest trailers and who sleeps with their half-sisters the least...just call it a STEREOTYPE!

That rivalry is hype. Bigger fan bases at those schools so more magnified but that type of hate is def what it’s like for Oregon vs UW and vice versa

I have family in the Chattahoochee Valley north of Columbus, Georgia. On both sides of the river. Pretty good mix of Alabama, Auburn and UGA fans. I have seen many family functions, from weddings to funerals to reunions, in any month of the year, devolve into a discussion of the Iron Bowl. It could just be the family dynamic which, like most families, has an element of hate inherent organically, but those discussions get as heated as political discussions get...Id say Alabama and Auburn and it ain't close...

No longer the SEC but let Georgia Tech have a run of 3-5 good seasons and win 2-3 against Georgia and that one will rival any anywhere anytime. It lies dormant most of the time because Tech sucks but they do occasionally have some success and when they do they are INSUFFERABLE...
