Nothing will happen as long as they don't self report it. The SEC is known for No Snitches Zone...right?

Hire better compliance officers so you don't get sanctions.

You don't know wtf you're talking about. Our own people turn us in. That's how good they are.

of course they did. They are required to do so

A good compliance officer asks questions like "wtf are you doing?" before you commit violations. Like a good auditor, their job is to keep you from committing violations, not just report them after the fact. It should be symbiotic. You tell compliance what you want to do and they help you find creative ways to do it without violating rules.

I'm convinced LSU's compliance department is run by ex-KGB. They are hardcore and self-report on everything. Every. Thing.

Cuz A&M has a long and demonstrated history of strict compliance and what not.

I would prefer that over a situation like North Carolina faced.

Totally agree. Just seems like a bit much from an in-house compliance department.

Is this where we are supposed to be impressed with the Aggie lawyers who could only get 100,000 dollars out of a 500,000 dollar contract?

Kind of. Unless you are led to believe (with a good reason) that another school is about to turn you in so you turn yourself in to try and soften the blow.

That was A&M 1.0.
We are now A&M 2.0, the SEC and Law School-powered version.

And let's be honest, Les has been around long enough to know that he and his staff should run everything through compliance before they run and visit or call a recruit. Especially when this particular rule just came out last year -----you check with your compliance before you pursue a kid, especially when the new rule was introduced just last year.

me too. I have no idea how LSU let this happen. It honestly appears to be a systemic issue that should scare the shite out of them but they are too angry all the time to have coherent conversations
But it may just be they are trying to do everything on the cheap

So wait, Louisiana (the state) being poor might hurt their football program?
That explains the $400k fight.

Aggies will have to play Texas for 3 years in a row.
You can't run from big brother forever Texas A&M.

You don't have to quote anything, I know yall have the money. Heck yall were right behind us on the apparel list.
Honestly the part after you bolded is the story. "we feel that the current climate of austerity surrounding our university compels us to move in a more deliberate manner."
Local politics and not wanting to look like there are "misplaced priorities" is why a program like Wincy loses its head coach to two Power 5 teams despite making bank on the B1G Network. If you are handcuffed politically sometimes that can be worse than not having money actually. Heck A&M's AD ran out of money in the 00's and we have to get a bailout from the school. That happened because the local politics supported it.
It is a VERY dangerous place to be in when your AD has to worry about state politician "optics." Especially in a state like Louisiana who, quite frankly, has epically bad politicians.

Texas would see that as a punishment. What did they do to deserve sanctions like that?
