Also, people are saying Rivers is better than Sweat and will be drafted in April and us State fans know how good Green is.

Guys. ESPN, CBS, Phil Steele, Athlon, whoever. They are running a business. Their product is sports entertainment. Fans love predictions, especially when college football is getting closer. They make money when you tune in, buy their magazine, click their article. This isn't about MS St., there's thousands of predictions out there that cover any and every team.

Which pros? These say lay some on us for National Champs, and predict us to go 11-1. Do I believe that? Not necessarily. But it proves you and your swine cohorts are dense.

They aren't in the business of being right, they don't lose their job if they're wrong.

Then why didn’t they predict us to have 10 wins the past couple of years? Surely they wanted clicks then too? Your argument is that of Swiss cheese.

arky has a bigger following than MsState so by your logic everyone should be hyping Arky with the new coach and all.

I'm not even sure what you're arguing anymore, but you seem to hold the belief if Marcus Spears, Paul Finebaum, and Kirk Herbstreit say it then it's definitely going to happen. They try their damn best to make accurate predictions but the fact of the matter is that's extremely difficult to do for a wide range of teams.

Yes, but they make their predictions based on the realm of possiblity. Which is why you see a lot of analysts picking State to win 9+. It isn’t just for clicks. It works for every team.

Just saying, on day one these analysts who go into the business knew they'd be making predictions because that's what the people want. I think ten wins is generous, but think you can win eight and maybe nine. There's also some prognosticators predicting seven. At the end of the day, most will be wrong in their prediction.

FWIW, I’ve predicted the last 4 seasons of State football correctly, was off by one this past year. I have us at 9-3 this year.

I normally do well predicting Arkansas as well, only a game off if I'm wrong and that's why I'll trust a fan's predictions over an analysts. For purposes of the thread discussing hype, I'm mainly arguing against the 10+ win predictions. I don't consider 9-3 unreasonable but I personally pick 7 or 8 (haven't made my mind up yet) due to the coaching change.
