Anybody ever been to a "University of Louisiana at LAFAYETTE" home football game? There's about 5,000 people in the stadium
Those 5000 people sure do rustle a lot of LSU fans.

The only ULL fan I know is a diehard LSU fan.

During the course of its existence, it has also been named Southwestern La. Institute or SLI, University of Southwestern La or USL, and now ULLLLLL. Mascots have changed over time as well, from the Bulldogs to the Chili Peppers to the Ragin Cajuns. Skip quit playing them in both baseball & softball for a number of yrs due to their violent ...several fights at games in both sports...hate for LSU. In football, they have never sold all their ticket allotment for games in T.Stadium. Tried to support them, along with LSU, when living in Lafayette but not possible. They are like tulane, not relevant to LSU.

There is no “University of Louisiana.” There is a University of Louisiana System with members of the system being McNeese State University, Northwestern State University, Louisiana Tech University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Nicholls State University, University of New Orleans, University of Louisiana, Monroe, and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. There is no flagship campus among these universities. Each has the same status in the system.
ULL has made an effort to brand itself as the University of Louisiana in athletics, but all of its official communications designate it as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette since it is not, under the statue authorizing the change in name from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, allowed to use the “University of Louisiana” without the “Lafayette.”
LSU (not “LSU Baton Rouge”), is the state’s flagship university by statute. LSU is in Baton Rouge. Any other member of the LSU system is designated by its location, such as LSU-Shreveport. The official title of LSU is Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (which refers only to the university in Baton Rouge, not the LSU system).
Just so you know.

Ever heard of the Ohio State University?

Such denial. You are Louisiana STATE A&M. That’s who you are and no amount of delusional rationalization will change that. You aren’t the “flagship” school, unless you agree that Texas A&M is...

Why should my opinion matter about Texas A&M’s status? This discussion isn’t about Texas A&M, which has whatever status Texas law gives it. I have not problem with being Louisiana State University. But the fact is that there is no such institution named University of Louisiana.

LSU fans always seem to come unhinged on this topic.
It makes no sense to write a multiple paragraph post about another school's athletic brand, then in the same post you try to say that you don't care about a small directional school.
They are the 2nd largest school in the state. In one of the best cities in the entire state.
Their athletic brand is Louisiana.
Get over it.

They are the Louisiana version of Ole Miss. An irrelevant school who bows to big brother.

I read it online. The University of Louisiana is in Lafayette. They have a satellite campus location at Monroe, the same as Auburn has AUM and Alabama has UAB. So, THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA is in Lafayette La officially.

University of Louisiana is Tulane
Then you have
University of Louisiana at Lafayette
University of Louisiana at Monroe
This came about because the city and alumina of ULL are trying to get it to compete with LSU for name.
University of Louisiana at Lafayette is known as U LaLa in Louisiana.

Monore is not a satellite campus of ULL it started out as Ouachita Parish Junior College in 1931.

In 1847, the state legislature established the school as the University of Louisiana that is Tulane and is title to be called University of Louisiana, but also is entitled to be called Tulane due to later acts in legislature in the early 1880's.

Go check the ESPN NCAAM Basketball standings.
Sunbelt:
You'll find Louisiana at the top.
And you'll find UL Monroe towards the bottom.
