What is the origin of this silly "Flagship" moniker?

I've never seen this before this year. Am I just completely out of touch? Can someone clue a fella in here?

The origin is pretty simple. Someone put a "L" into the name by mistake and it stuck.

It's a reference to the battle between the states of Arkansas and Kentucky for hillbilly supremacy.

The Origin of the Flagship Title
Over a year ago some Arkansas and Auburn posters were ranting at each other ...and some Ar poster made the point that Auburn wasnt even the flagship university of its own state ....that it woudl forever be number 2 in Alabama and ergo could never be number one in the SEC

Poster went on to describe Arkansas as the flagship of the state and so ....the rest of the rant jumped on that

and Voila
