Read this thread. It's not delusion when people consistently rank us in the top 3, you just seem to have trouble accepting it.

This doesnt make sense. Neyland is built like a coliseum, very steeply.

Maybe youre thinking of the Big House?

Yep LSU 1a - AU 1b (at least when Bama comes to town)

As DOT mentioned it's kinda hard to really pinpoint a real ranking considering circumstances can vary wildly between times you've gone. AU 17 = very loud. AU 12 = snoozer. UT 13 = loud. UT 17 = snoozer. Etc. With that said I'll do my best to attempt a general, overall ranking and number of times I've attended. Excluded are UGA to remove bias, Gainesville since we don't play there, and aTm since we haven't played there in my lifetime.

1) LSU (2)- really tough call due to the small sample size, 03 was incredible thorughout while 08 was a bit lackluster. 03 included the loudest single moment I've ever heard so I feel like that's gotta propel them to the top.

2) AU (8)- As with most other teams, there've been some really high highs along with some duds. Unless they are getting whooped or just totally suck the crowd is generally pretty amped. Larger sample size helps this ranking I'm sure.

3)South Carolina (8)- they get a lot of credit for being into it and loud even when the teams I've seen of theirs haven't been good. I know we are their 2nd biggest rival behind clemson so this means a lot, which helps explain their passion when hosting UGA. I always expect it to be a good atmosphere here.

4)Tennessee (8)- As mentioned in the intro paragraph I've seen the gamut in knoxville. 03 and 17 you could hear a pin drop, 07 and 09 were rowdy throughout. I do think UT is overrated and they should probably be better/louder considering the capacity, but when the fans are on it's certainly loud enough.

5)Alabama (6)- I fully admit that if I had been more recently they would probably be much higher. My games attended span from 02-11 so I haven't seen a lot of the saban era. In the games I HAVE attended, certainly 05 UF stands out but other than that there's nothing to really separate them from the pack from other big SEC schools.

6)UK (4)- Surprisingly nice stadium and crowd atmosphere, considering it's kentucky. 3 of the 4 games attended were relatively close, some extremely close, which led to the crowd staying jacked up til the end.

7)MSU (2) - Maybe things would be different if I'd gone more recently but my trips were in 05 and 10. Small stadium and cowbells don't generate nearly the same atmosphere as actual fans yelling.

8)Missouri (1) - Small sample size may be a culprit here, but the one I went to was a solid game and their first SEC game (at night) so I feel like it's a good juding point. Good crowd but nothign to realy write home about.

9)Arkansas (2)- This may be a bit unfair; my first trip was in 09 to fayetteville which was a terrific back and forth game but don't recall the crowd being overly loud, and my last was to little rock which doesn't really count.

10)Ole Miss (3)- First two trips were both pretty boring uneventufl games, both of which featured pretty bad teams. 2 years ago wasn't competitive out of the gate and was a domination from the start so not a whole lot for the crowd to stay hyped about. Fairly small satdium with an unintimidating fanbase.

11)Vandy (6)- blah

With the bells, MSU gets rowdy. Without the bells it's just about dead last.

Went to Alabama last year in Primetime, wasn't impressed.

Tiger Stadium at its best, it's deffening in there.

Ranked when at their best

1. LSU
2. Florida
3. Auburn
4. Alabama
5. MSU **With the bells

During the biggest moments of the biggest games all of the major sec stadiums (the 85k + fully enclosed venues) are about equally loud to be honest.

The down time or in between moments during games are typically louder in all stadiums during night games (drunkenness).

I’ve been to incredibly loud games at BDS, Death Valley, Neyland, Sanford and JH. Neyland is a ghost town now compared to what it used to be. JH and BDS are both guilty of just getting very quiet during the breaks in the action with BDS being the worst in that regard. Death Valley is very tame now when I’ve been in the last five years or so, but it was once the best IMO.

Edit: only been to Kyle once for a Day game blowout. So did not list.

Wow that sucks. I’ve been going every other year to Neyland since 1990. Reading your post made me realize there are grown arse men in your fan base like yourself that really have no idea what loud in Neyland is.

You were at the 2013 UGA/UT game? What made you want to catch that one?

In reference to the 2013 UGA/UT game, which you admittedly did not attend. So I'm curious how in the frick you would know how loud that was?

That was in response to the Tenn fan. It had nothing to do with you. You’re pretty sensitive for someone with 60k posts.

1) A UT fan claimed the loudest moment he'd heard was in the '13 UGA game
2) You claimed he has no idea what loud is compared to bama/ut games from the 90s
3) You admittedly weren't at the game in question, so you have less than zero idea if that moment/game was as loud or potentially even louder than ones in your memory

I just am shocked sometimes how little logic and rational thinking some people have and felt the need to call it out. And now you're trying to turn the argument around as if I'm the one in the wrong. You aren't getting off that easy. You need to admit you were talking out your arse about something you don't have any idea about.

But, since you rang my bell... I seriously doubt anything lately in Neyland is even comparable to the Neyland of the late 90s with 112k capacity when they not only wanted to win but expected to win.

I mean I go every other year and back in the day you were verbally assaulted from the moment you parked your car there lol. It is just not that way anymore and hasn’t been for a long long time.

Just ask some UT fans old enough to remember and I’m sure they will agree.

PS damn you for making me say nice things about those garbage truck workers

Popular opinion says Death Valley (the real one, not the imitated one)

Empirical data says Kyle field

Herbstreit and Musburger couldn't believe how loud Williams Bryce was vs UGA in 2012. Here's the transcript from the off the air conversations during commercial breaks...

Following Ace Sanders punt return for TD to put SC up 21-0...

quote:

"Can you believe this?" -Herbstreit
"Can't hear a thing" - Musburger
"They don't have a clue right now" -Herbstreit
"Can I get an adjustment, I can't hear"- Musburger
"Can you feel this? Is our room moving?" - Herbstreit
" 6 west just said the same thing" - Unknown male (Booth guy referring to camera guy stating his position is shaking)
" Like bouncing kinda" -Background voice (Different booth guy replying to Herbstreit)
"I think it is" - Herbstreit
" South Carolina smacked them with that one" -Musburger
" I don't know if they come back from this one" -Herbstreit
" Is this the best scene in college football you've seen Herbie?" -Musburger
" I don't know if it's the best ever, but it's the scariest yeah" -Herbstreit
" Remarkable scene" -Musburger
" Unbelievable" - Herbstreit

Not trying to be a dick, but the LSU game last year was pretty meh in terms of excitement. It was probably our biggest home game but nobody truly expected to lose and so it wasn't really all that jacked up. Especially after we took a 14-0 in the 1st qtr and everyone knew the game was basically over.

Kind of fits in what I was saying earlier about the place really playing up or down to competition. That's a negative, IMHO, but it is how we are. Better than the old days when it was never loud.

Also, to reinforce what WG_Dawg said, the 2005 Florida game is the single loudest that stadium has ever been. And that was with both endzones open and only 82K or so. It was a fvckin madhouse.
