You better enjoy it now because come mid January, you will bring up the rear of the conference for the rest of the winter and spring sports.

I want to up vote this response 1,000 times, and it has nothing to do with my team never playing in a bowl game that matter (in recent history), it has everything to do with truth!

I'd imagine it's the same feeling you have whenever Alabama's games are over. Empty and meaningless.

One day bama is going to fall back to earth and the melt will be like nothing we've seen before.

Wives, children, dogs and trees will all be in great peril.

I've never played in a bowl game. I played for Newberry College. We did beat the Citadel though.

What's it like to have your life & state revolve around a make-believe game that doesn't matter?

I miss playing in bowl games that don’t matter

That is the damned truth, I usually watch a ton of football from late December until the championship game and all I’ve watched this year was 15 minutes or so of a game in between other things I wanted to watch while at a family gathering. Even playing in a meaningless bowl game is a hell of a lot better than not playing in one at all.

Oh, as to the OP sometimes meaningless is in the eye of the beholder. In 2009 Utah saw a ton more meaning in their game than Alabama did and proceeded to out play you in every facet of the game and embarrassed you in a national stage.

To all the seniors playing in these early bowls games that will never even sniff a shot at the next level, I assure you that playing one more game with their friends before having to leave football forever means a lot more than it does to some prima dona that was a first round draft pick in waiting the day he signed his LOI.

That's a pretty long time to go back to find a meaningless post season game. Thanks for reminding me how great we are.

And let that stubble keep growing. It feels great.

And we played in the "meaningless" 2014 Sugar Bowl as well. While Auburn was in the only game that mattered in the OP's mind. OP is a moron

depends on how you look at it. IMO, all bowl games matter. For those who are likely NFL talent and want to play to see if they can get some extra looks, it's not a waste of time.

For those who are sitting out for NFL reasons, it gives other players who likely see very little time an opportunity to shine to get ready for the next season.

It's an automatic practice opportunity that has significant meaning.

For fans if they were expecting more but didn't get what they want, but are still in a bowl, it helps with remaining consistent; rewarding players for a complete season; and to prepare for 2019.

I agree with many there are too many bowls. But for the reasons above I enjoy the abundance of bowls. We are likely to see programs that may not get the exposure throughout the year.

A great example is Kentucky. As an SEC program they want to be among the best. That's always a goal. 9-3 this year is a marquee season for them. They are guaranteed a top 25 finish no matter what. But a 10 win season capped off with a Citrus Bowl win, and a possible top 12 final ranking would set a new standard for that program.
