I dont think it is much about hiding anything as much as it is UA officials don't care for some folks in the media. So instead of thelling them to Ef-off, they just cite some BS rule so not to hurt anyones feelings.

Guess we better start paying more attention to UAB. They obviously are doing things the right way.

What, by making someone else pay all the bills? That makes them the biggest welfare recipient in the state.

I personally wish Coach Saban would say behind the lectern,
"You guys aren't getting shite, aight? It's all redacted. It's a part of the Process, aight? FoIA that shite if you want anything relative to the numbers."

Every Division I public school in this state provides us a copy of those reports. Only Alabama blacks out the scholarship numbers for every sport.

We know from the latest form that Alabama reported spending $3,041,356 on football scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. We don't know how many players Alabama reported having on scholarship that year.

The News has asked Alabama several times to explain why it withholds information we believe is a public record. The heart of the explanation, from university spokesperson Deborah Lane: "Federal privacy laws prevent the University from providing the media with personally identifiable information related to its students."

Excuse me, but what? The NCAA form doesn't include the names of players on scholarship. Just the numbers. Besides, if Alabama considers it a potential privacy violation to release the number of football players on scholarship, why does the school announce the names of its signees every year?

Alabama's argument is inconsistent with its own practice.

Saban doesn't have to tell what he doesn't want you to know. I think he does this to get under your Aubie skin and piss you off...and this makes me very happy!

It is funny when one negative article comes out about either team, then all the sudden the news hates Bammer/Auburn.

please show me one critical column Scarbo has written about AU in the last two years. He even manages to find ways to compliment your basketball program.

He HAD to write that article. As much as he harped on saban about saying shite if he hadn't said something about chiz he would have gotten torn to shreds. He may be a dumb barner, but he is only barner by marriage (occupation).

Edit: typing on iPhone is the suck.

Seriously??? An Auburn fan wondering what Bama is hiding? That's rich. Greyshirting is legal in the SEC. Any coach that doesn't do it, is not taking advantage of the opprotunities that the rules allow. Medical redshirts and normal attrition will generally speaking, take care of the greyshirts. It's no coincidence that the best recruiting teams over the last 5 or 6 years(Bama &LSU) utilize the ability to greyshirt.

Greyshirting huh? Saban said he never ever signs a kids without him knowing he will greyshirt. Guess that is why he waited until the very last day to get to 85 by telling two kids it was greyshirt time.

It is pretty funny how dinker can't open his mouth without telling a lie.

quote:

On the day before deadline, Saban announced that 1 student-athlete would be transferring and 2 new recruits would be accepting a greyshirt.
With that announcement, Alabama was magically at the 85 number, or so everyone thought, including all of the Alabama media that follow the numbers. Shortly after that announcement, the NCAA would rule that Alfy Hill would be academically ineligible (which was total BS on the NCAA's part with regards to how they handled that poor kid - he had already taken classes at Alabama but was ruled ineligible after the fact).

Read more on Alabama getting down to 85 on the last day here: LINK /

The two players taking the grayshirts on the last day appeared to be indication that there wasn't room for them in the current class. In his press conference this year, Saban had this to say about grayshirting:

"We have never, ever grayshirted a guy here who when he decided to come here didn't know ... that he was going to be a grayshirt whenever he committed," Saban said.

LINK

Read that very carefully. If a recruit knows he is going to be a grayshirt when he commits, then why it is not announced on National Signing Day that he will be taking a grayshirt and enrolling in the following January? We are not doubting that Saban is telling guys that a grayshirt is possible, that much has been reported already, but his comments above in conjunction with the announcement of two players accepting a grayshirt on July 31st last year sure makes it look like he was oversigned and was waiting until the last minute to see how it was going to play out before using his ace in the hole, the grayshirt. Perhaps those grayshirts were not cast in stone on the front end, instead, perhaps they are a safety valve for the back end should everyone qualify or roster management dictate that someone has to go in order to stay under the 85 cap.

I can post the quote from the guy that signed with Uk that saban recruited and never told he would have to greyshirt during his recruitment if anyone would like.

Dont you have enough on your own plate to worry about? What is the barn hiding? Why has your school not replied to the Bham news for the information they requested?

A better question is why this hack thinks Nick Saban or the University of Alabam owes him, or anyone else, anything.

Uhhhhhh, Alabama is still a public university, right?

Again...it's within the rules. Save the rhetoric and lose the penis envy. You come across like a Red Sox fan talking about the Yankees. Chizik will do the same thing after he's made up for the lack of talent Tubberville left. That is the only reason he hasn't yet. Quit being naive and please stop the self righteous whining.

Look. You wanted a negative column he wrote, I found one. Less than two weeks ago. Is it my fault Nick Sabear cusses like a sailor on National TV? Nope. He blasted both of them for it even singling out Chizik for doing it from a podium and not from the sidelines. Most of the season's articles are focused on Auburn's national title run and are very favorable (as I'm sure last year's Bammer articles were too).
