Mine is Arik Gilbert, I can't remember any true freshman on offense being hyped up like this kid is. He looks like Megatron. I can't wait to see him ball out this year.

All those returning starters and you are excited to watch 6 freshman play? That doesn't sound good.

Roydell Williams at Alabama

quote:

One of the top players in the state of Alabama and one of the best running backs in the nation … a consensus four-star prospect … the No. 9 running back on the 247 Composite and the No. 4 player in the state of Alabama … ESPN also ranks him as the No. 29 player in the Southeast Region

ETA: Bryce Young too, of course, but Roydell is sort of an under-the-radar dude that I'm excited to watch develop.

Four come to mind:
Bryce Young
Will Anderson
Chris Braswell
Drew Sanders

Young because of his upside

Anderson and Braswell both were WDE being recruited - curious to see if either will be working from a different position. They were 230 and 220 lbs respectively, so I'm wondering if one of them moves to LB or bulks up and moves to SDE.

Saw video of Drew Sanders, and he was ridiculous as a receiving TE in high school. Might end up with OJ Howard 2.0.

Anderson is turning heads in practice. He's a good one to watch.

Likely only Demas and Jones start, maybe Moose.

Excited to see this season:

Jalin Hyatt (WR)
Malachi Wideman (WR)
Javontez Spraggins (OL)
Tyler Baron (OLB/DE)
Morven Joseph (OLB/DE)

Probably the most excited about:

Harrison Bailey (QB) but I don't think it's likely he'll be called on this season unless disaster strikes unlike the guys mentioned above.

Justin Rogers - DL
Michael Drennen - WR
Vito Tisdale - S

At least those are the freshman most likely to get playing time.

Yes I was, in fact I enrolled into lsu the same year fournette did. The difference with fournette and Gilbert is we knew fournette was a backup/rotation player coming in, whereas Gilbert was the starter the moment he stepped on campus.

DWan Mathis is a redshirt freshman. Do those count?

Outside of him, I'd go Jalen Carter. True freshmen usually take mid-season to earn the regular rotation for us. But we are starting to stack studs on the DL to win in the trenches.

Who's he beating out to start though? He can walk on campus and not have to worry about it.
