With Colbert, people who don’t like the current president. I am independent and am with him on some things (2A protection) and against him on others (threatening judges), and I personally think his constantly shifting tariff scheme makes no sense.

So if a private corporation wants to run a media program at a loss, that is their right. They can also decide to cut non profitable programs too.

I’m always skeptical of Washington politicians. Even if you don’t like what another person or corporation is saying, it’s good to protect their right to say it. Free speech helps hold our elected officials to account. No this isn’t an SEC topic, but it’s off season and I did not start this thread.

I like S.C. Can’t say I watch it all the time, but it’s funny.

Unlike Gutfield where only he tries to laugh at his “jokes”.

CBS just sold for 8 billion. Trump gave his blessings, and the deal was done. Neither entity seems to do much at a loss.

Difference: the WNBA has a huge new media rights deal kicking in next year.

Yes, the big money bags came out way ahead. Colbert, currently making $20M / year will also come out way ahead, and the extra publicity he is getting now will help ensure he lands well.

It may make lots of sense for a big network to run certain shows at a loss just to capture the eyeballs of a larger variety of viewers, and with them some goodwill and transfers to other network shows. Grocery stores may put a “loss leader” like milk on sale. Even though the grocery store may not make a lot on the on sale milk item, the dairy section is normally purposefully placed at the back of the store. Shoppers going after the on sale milk item will likely pick up and buy a lot of other stuff at full price on the way to and from the on sale milk item in back.

Yeah, sure. I am certain that other networks are looking at his viewership numbers slipping over 50% in 10 years and burning his phone up begging him to come work for them.

He likely ends up back on comedy central.

You have no idea how worried I get when guys worth over 100 million might not be able to land well.

I agree. The dems' propaganda machines are taking some big losses these days. Thank goodness we didn't have to give up on humor to make this tough sacrifice.
