What do you think Manziel's punishment will be?

I believe he will be suspended for 2 games and made to pay back the money.

If he took money, he won't be punished. Just dismissed.

I think a lot depends on if he comes clean, if he did do it, or chooses to fight.

If he comes clean, probably pay the money back and miss half the season.

If he fights, and they're able to get proof, probably take his eligibility.

Remember AJ Green received $1000 for selling his jersey. He received a 4 game suspension. We all know that the NCAA is never consistent with penalties and with Bama-A&M being touted as the game of the year, I just don't think they will dismiss him or suspend him for more than two games.

Texas A&M will insist that he be dismissed, if the NCAA doesn't pull his eligibility all together. Believe it or not they take the honor code very seriously, and as much as JFF brought hype and attention to a sleeping program, the institution is fed up at this point.

The problem is it's more than that. 6 game min suspension if he hasn't already lied to NCAA

If it was anything over $5,000 or so, he should not be able to pay back the money. The more money it was, the bigger the violation in my opinion.

Buying a kid a hamburger and giving him $100 is one thing. Giving him $100,000 is another thing altogether. He should be stripped of his amateur status because he profited off of his playing football. He should be kicked off the team and just go to the NFL.

It happens all the time.

Did they decide to start doing this after Jackie Sherrill left?

I'm betting the NCAA won't be able to prove anything and it's business as usual for JFF and aTm.

His punishment will be playing football for aTm for the rest of the season as opposed to playing in the NFL.

Nothing is going to come out of this IMO. There is way too much money on the line. If this were Tyler Russell at MS state or Bo Wallace, they would be gone because (no offense) they are not making the SEC money, whereas Manziel is worth millions.

I have an acquaintance that was on the LSU staff back in the early 2000s...position coach...he claims that everyone knew AU and Cam were dirty, including Auburn, the SEC and the NCAA, but there was too much riding on suspending him. The NCAA is a BUSINESS...it is incorporated. They will make a business decision here, IMO, unless the overwhelming weight of the evidence in the public domain forces them to act otherwise.

In other words, as long as there are any even remotely plausible outs for the NCAA, SEC and aTm, Manziel will play.
