Flagstaff is pretty cool. It's like driving into an entirely different state. I wouldn't mind living there. Until I moved to the Phoenix area it was my frame of reference for the state since I would usually take 40 back and forth to Cali.

Only went to the Tuscon area a few times, it was nicer than I expected, but never south of there.

Of course this is not even an up to date chart. But I prefer blue to Soviet Red.

Like the shites your football takes all over themselves every time they play UGA’ s football team.
Not sure what route you take on your travels but you can probably score some free toilet paper if you make a detour thru Auburn, Alabama. It’s literally hanging from the trees. Heard they went batshat crazy after their big win over SW Central Idaho State Beauticians College. I don’t think y’all are visiting UGA anytime soon, but it should come in handy for your other SEC games.

Hurricanes aren't that bad unless you live near the eye? You need to take a drive thru large parts of south and central Ga and SC. These areas are still recovering from that last storm. Not to mention the historic flooding this storm caused in Tenn and NC. Incredible damage and deaths occurred hundreds of miles from where the storm came ashore in Fla.

Hurricanes aren't that bad because you have warning and can act accordingly.

I never implied they didn't do damage. And most hurricanes don't do the things you describe, it was from an abnormal amount of rainfall in the mountains. If that shite was normal, nobody would live there.

Not everyone can evacuate. First responders and others stay. Some do not have the resources to flee. And sometimes they die.
Who said the rainfall was normal? It wasn’t and it was caused by a hurricane and a rain system. And let’s not forget global warming.
if I’m remembering correctly this last storm came with little advance warning. The storm appeared and formed quickly. It would have been impossible to evacuate Fla, Georgia, SC and all the areas affected by it.

You are a moron, if after all the weather disasters we have experienced in recent years, you still think global warming is a hoax. You can’t fix stupid. And I’m not gonna try. Some people are beyond help

There isn't a single bit of scientific evidence that hurricanes have gained in intensity or in frequency despite decades of scientists trying to prove one exists. Nor are the other weather events.

You are citing propaganda, not science. The world has ended 3 times in my lifetime according to people like you.

Earth.

Do you think Arizona is flat? Because even though it has the Grand Canyon and the northern half of the state is the southern edge of the rocky mountains, the actual areas where it's mostly populated are flat as frick.

My entire 5 years of Arizona was...flat as frick. Oh sure, I could see the mountains that weren't too far away, like only 20 minutes away, I could drive up them and it was steep and all that shite. But, if you live in Phoenix and that area, it's flat as frick. And really, when you get on top of the mountains, they are also kind of flat, like a plateau or something.

That's generally the experience I had, and it's actually fricking awesome. By far the best state for driving I've ever lived in due to how flat it was and how they could lay the roads out.

Does Arizona have higher elevation and all those "mountains" than say Alabama or Mississippi? Yes, 100%. Is the experience in Alabama or Mississippi anywhere near as "flat" as Arizona? Hell no. Arizona has a flatness to it that can't be matched. Flattest state I've ever lived in.

And when it comes to Missouri, the general area from St Louis to Kansas city was pretty flat. Especially the parts near southern Illinois. Arizona is the only place that is flatter.

So I guess if you just want to go by elevation maps and differences, it's not. But as far as the experience there is a type of flatness that I do not see very often and as such, that is what sticks out to me.

I'm not sure of anything about Arizona but I've lived in both Missouri and Mississippi and traveled extensively throughout both states and in no way is Missouri flatter than Mississippi.

That has to be one of the weirdest takes I've ever read on this board, and that's saying something.

quote:

Geographers Professor Jerome Dobson and Joshua Campbell from the University of Kansas published a paper in 2014 titled, “The Flatness of U.S. States.” The geographers conducted a “geomorphometric analysis” - essentially a measure of lumps and bumps- of the contiguous United States. Dobson and Campbell developed a method for reckoning flatness, creating an algorithm that allowed them to develop a comprehensive estimate of states’ relative flatness.

Their focus was on the human perception of flatness since the study’s purpose was to combat the general perception of Kansas’s flatness. To estimate geographical flatness as perceived by the human eye, Dobson and Campbell applied math to the experience of looking toward the horizon and seeing a rise of land. From there, they created a simulation that approximates what you would see if you stood in a spot and turned 360 degrees. They then framed each finding into four categories: not flat, flat, flatter, and flattest.

By their criteria, Mississippi was the 5th flattest state in America.

Then you were hunting for meth. Live in KC metro, one of the best places to live on the continent, subjective and by my standards. But people are moving here from everywhere.

My hometown got hit HARD by Helene. Trees are still down (we're talking even pulling the roots out of the ground) or almost bent at 90* between neighboring cities.

We were expecting some wind & a lot of rain.
We ended up with 85% of the county with structural damage & 7 storms hit within the city limits.
My house was without power for 8 days. My aunt/uncle were without ~ 3/4 month.
When they travelled to nearby places who didn't get hit, people were complaing about just over a day without electricity. They laughed & said "I'm still down".

I lived in Desert Ridge for 7 years and Arizona is not flat at all. Phoenix lies in the valley, which is why the city was built there, and there are mountains around in every direction. I've been all over AZ from Bisbee all the way up to the northern Alpine region and AZ is not a flat state. That's ludicrous.

Alabama: Only driven through it while moving out here. Haven't spent any time there unfortunately, but was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it is. Not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting that.
Arkansas: Pretty state. Played a lot of golf down there and the best Goddamn fish sandwich and fried okra I ever put in my mouth came from there.
Florida: Love Florida. Love the keys. Best friends live on Marco Island.
Georgia: Haven't been to many places here unfortunately but I do love Savannah.
Kentucky: Only drove through it once but for negative reasons. Saw some pretty country. Not enough data.
Louisiana: Love New Orleans. Love the culture. Love the culinary scene there and how into it they are.
Mississippi: Only driven through it. Looked hilly with lots of alpine trees but kinda brown. Not enough data.
Missouri: Love the Ozarks. Vacationed there a lot as a kid. Beautiful place and special to me.
Oklahoma: We pull people over on the highways who are fans from out of state, beat them up, and then shoot them in the face, according to one Arky fan on here.
Tennessee: Beautiful state. Good people. Some of the prettiest country I've ever seen is there. Unbelievable.
Texas: Full of texans that like to tell you they're texans, even though you're in texas, mobile homes, and strip malls unfortunately. If you're an outdoorsman, they have you covered. And the women are naturally slutty.
South Carolina: Hated it for many years because my only experience was Ft. Jackson, and then I found Charleston. What a town.

I don't give a frick about their criteria. The question was asked about my opinion. I've given a very clear reason on why my opinion is what it is despite the obvious shite people name. If you can't understand it by now, that's your problem. I'm not going to spend anymore time explaining my reasoning.

We got the 1st snow in 3 of my grandkids’ lives a few weeks ago. I got to make snow cream for them and the joy on their faces made my decade! Born in Kansas, grew up in Tennessee, and reside in South Carolina. Charleston is a national treasure that won’t exist in its present state in 10 years. If you want to visit here, get here before 2035. Trust me on this

No reason to defend your opinion to me, folks are allowed to have absurd opinions. This is America.
